Last night's overnight temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 13.0°C.

Meanwhile, this morning has started off on a dull and overcast note which I'm actually pleased with for a change because if it was to stay like that for a while, I would easily be able to go out and about in that (I would even be doing that if it was raining but of course, that is just something which never happens here any more) and feel quite comfortable without actually sweltering.

As we already know though, it won't stay like for the rest of the day because in the end, the Sun always finds a way to break through. I therefore wouldn't be surprised if that happened quite quickly, therefore resulting in it being too hot for me later on once again.

Currently around 14°C here in Edinburgh.

Here in Edinburgh, the Sun has come out as per usual but unlike on other recent days, it has never quite fully made it out so there are always still some bits and pieces of easterly muck coming in from off the North Sea.

As a result, today is a bit cooler than of late with the temperature generally no higher than around 19°C here in Edinburgh and only around 16°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

For me, that has made it feel a lot more comfortable and it is a very pleasant change to not actually be sweltering for once in this little flat which I live in.

Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 19.5°C which is cooler than of late but which is once again, a little bit warmer than forecast and that always seems to be a very common theme especially when cooler temperatures are being forecast.

In addition to that and despite the almost constant stream of easterly muck coming in from off the North Sea in this part of Edinburgh in particular, a total of 7.3 hours of sunshine has still been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 7:40pm BST (18:40 UTC) this evening within this year in which the Sun just won't stop shining, although that easterly muck has closed in a bit more and become more extensive as this evening has gone on.

Currently around 14°C here in Edinburgh

Another very stuffy night, with a cloud cover trapping the sea's warmth over this part of Kent.

Cloudy, a light NE'ly, 18.7, dew 16.7. The overnight low was just 17.7, following a high of 22.0.

A dull, damp and overcast start to today with a little bit of light rain and drizzle around which is quite a change from what we've been used to although that rain/drizzle isn't actually showing up on the latest rain radar maps.

It's also fairly misty with quite a bit of easterly muck still coming in from off the North Sea.

Currently around 13°C here in Edinburgh

Rain just started. That's not in the bbc forecast. I'm not complaining.

From a gentle drizzle at 6am, we now have a heavy downpour in progress at 9am.  The garden will be surprised. 😁

The earlier rain was too good to be true. Laundry drying time instead while there is still water coming from the tap.

The earlier drizzle has gone and it's not as misty now, but it's still dull and overcast with not even the slightest hint of any brightness.

Meanwhile, the temperature at lunchtime here in Edinburgh is still only around 15°C and not even the least bit warm for this time of the year.

Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was just 17.0°C making today, the first day for quite a while with below average temperatures, something which has become very much a rare occasion in this modern era of climate change.

Overall, it was a rather disappointing day (albeit a much more comfortable one for me) in which there was never anything other than a few glimpses of the Sun in the afternoon and a few patches of blue sky, and none of that was enough to prevent this month's second completely sunless day from officially being recorded at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Currently around 15°C here in Edinburgh with a cool wind still continuing to come in from off the North Sea.

Today has started off on a much drier note than yesterday, but has also started off on another dull and overcast note as our late summer permacast hell enters into its second day.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 11.7°C.

currently around 12°C here in Edinburgh

So temperatures have been nice since late July, around the mid 20's which is perfect for us and only a couple of silly hot days in the 30's and mostly sunny - till the last few days. Now it is distinctly unpleasant, a very strong NE wind and thick grey cloud making it feel very autumnal and enough to start my watering eyes going. It may make the low 20's later I guess but with the cloud and wind it won't feel it. Got a jumper on for the first time since April this morning! The trouble is it is the worst of both worlds with no rain, a low D.P  and the winds continuing to scorch the leaves and the cracked dusty ground.

Here in Edinburgh, normal service has resumed as far as this year is concerned with the Sun making its return after a day's absence.

However, we still have a cool wind from off the North Sea with the temperatures pegged back at only around 16°C here in Edinburgh
