A very different day today, heavy cloud and a NE'ly breeze. It's still warm for the time of day, mind!

18.1, dew 16.3. The overnight low was just 17.8 and the high yesterday was 27.8 - hopefully the last excursion into the upper 20s for some time.

A cloudy night. Low of 14 C and up to 15 C by 0700

The cloud is breaking up however, hopefully we'll see more sunshine today

However, today is expected to be a little bit cooler than yesterday once again but yet another 20+°C is still being forecast by the Met Office and it's not until Monday that any maximums of lower than 20°C are actually being forecast although there are no signs of any really hot weather returning such as what we had a couple of days and so, there are no signs of any more heatwaves for now.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 12.7°C.

Currently around 16°C here in Edinburgh

As I said earlier, this is the year in which the Sun just won't stop shining and because of that, it hasn't taken long for the Sun to come back out again.

Currently around 17°C here in Edinburgh but despite forecasts of today being slightly cooler than yesterday, I wouldn't be surprised if it was actually a bit warmer today with that sunshine.

Looking at the cloud radar, the North Sea cloud sheet is thick and not really breaking up at all. Usually you see it retreating back to the coast quite rapidly by now but not today. Perhaps there's just not enough of a breeze to mix and disperse? That combined with a weakening sun might explain it.

In any case the apps showing a sunny afternoon look very inaccurate right now.

It's been <20°C all day, grey and overcast. Light breeze stirring the leaves. Allowed me to do a "tidy up" mow of the lawn in relative comfort. 😁

Cloudy here and 19.3c.

Low cloud always takes longer than forecast to burn back to the coast, fear might not see the sun here for some considerable number of days.

I can usually appreciate a bit of nice, sunny weather every now and then but the vast majority of this year has been almost constantly like that and now for me, it's like "can someone please change the record?".

In fact, we don't even need to hope for a nice, sunny day anymore because we already know that this is probably what it's going to be like anyway based on the fact that we just don't get the sort of more changeable weather here in any more which we used to get, and which would actually allow us to appreciate this type of weather a bit more whenever we get it.

Despite the sunshine, the temperature is only around 21°C here in Edinburgh which is slightly cooler than yesterday but that is still above average for here and even with those temperatures, it still feels far too hot and stuffy in this little flat where I live.

A very pleasant evening as the cloud dissolves and less humid air arrives. Sunny, breezy from the NE, 18.8, dew 14.3. And best of all? It's quieter than recently outside, as the "let's stink out the road with our smelly BBQs" folks stay indoors. Perfect!
