I'm now back in Edinburgh after my fortnight's holiday in the Scottish Borders.
Before I left Hawick, it was cloudy with some sunshine at times and it has pretty much remained that way right throughout my journey home.
Here in Edinburgh though, the cloud has broken up over the course of this evening to leave us with a bright and sunny end to the day.
Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 19.6°C, but with only a total of 4.3 hours of sunshine.
This leaves us needing a total of at least 22.9 hours of sunshine between now and the end of this month in order for this month to go down as being sunnier than average but as there are only three days left of this month, that is an average of at least 7.63 hours of sunshine per day. So far this month and despite the lack of any completely sunless days this month, we are only averaging 4.93 hours of sunshine per day so with the outlook not looking particularly sunny over the next few days according to the last model output, it is now looking as though our run of sunnier than average months which started back in February is now about to come to an end.
Currently around 15°C here in Edinburgh
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
