Typical summer weather here - clear blue skies, no wind, following a warmer than average night (albeit thankfully not especially warm).

16.9, dew 15.8, the overnight low was 14.1 and yesterday's high - a late one again - was 27.3.

The MetO raw has a max of just 22C here today, under blazing sun, and all I can say to that is "hmm". 24 or 25 would seem more likely IMO even with an onshore breeze, but we'll see!

However, this morning has started off on a bright and sunny note once again. Yesterday's sunshine total at Edinburgh Gogarbank was actually slightly upgraded by this morning's 06z raw SYNOP/BUFR data to 15.4 hours of sunshine, a figure which is probably unlikely to be beaten or matched at any time in the rest of this year but yet another big sunshine total is still looking very much on the cards for today in this year in which the Sun just won't stop shining.

As with yesterday, the Met Office are going for a maximum temperature of only around 24°C for here but just like yesterday, we will see about that. The Met Office just like yesterday are pointing towards a developing breeze from off the North Sea but as was the case yesterday, there are still absolutely no signs of that actually happening and for that reason, the Met Office are probably underestimating today's maximum temperature forecast once again just as they did yesterday.

Currently around 16°C here in Edinburgh which is just about on par with what we had yesterday at the same time.

19.5C, calm and sunny.

Down to 9.9C in Pett Bottom last night. But already 18C, so today’s modelled max of 23C for the downs seems unlikely. 

I want it to be fairly fresh as I have a couple of hours of work to do on the vineyard this afternoon. 

19c and sunny here.  Some spots locally into the 20's. Can see the low cloud to the East in the Vale of York where it is a cooler 16c. 

Just hit 23 as of 9:05. No sign of the wind or any clouds as per the raw... not impressed so far!

Two or three degrees cooler here than at the same time yesterday 👍. it's what the Met O app has been forecasting - I hope it's right for the rest of the day and this week.

And yet more clear blue sky here in Brockley. 

In the past few days, while my location has done pretty well in terms of sunshine, it never got that properly hot with 21 C to 23 C on account of a north east wind. Pretty much the same case today with good lengthy sunny spells and broken cloud and temps at a sensible 22 C currently under a mod NE breeze. I'm taking that. 

Very pleasant day here. A bit of a breeze, and deep cobalt blue sky. 

27C here in SE London and a fresh 24C at the vineyard despite a very rapid rise there earlier. 

Although the data from Edinburgh Gogarbank still isn't showing any influence from the North Sea, the data from Edinburgh Airport is showing that a breeze is starting to set in from off the North Sea.

As a result, both Edinburgh Airport and the botanic gardens in Edinburgh are a bit cooler at around 21°C.

I am also noticing a bit of high cloud which has started to appear to my east and by looking out over the water, I can even see some easterly muck starting to gather out there and waiting to head in this direction once it gets the chance to do so.

Temps very similar to yesterday, didn't quite reach 30c by 12 but up to 30.7c now.

Here in the north of Edinburgh, the easterly muck is now racing in from off the North Sea in the form of thick patchy fog.

For now, the sunshine is still very strong and is just about managing to continue to be seen through all of that, but is increasingly struggling to do so.

As that is happening, the temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank has gone up to 25.1°C to give us our second 25+°C maximum in a row so only one more 25+°C maximum is needed tomorrow to give us an official heatwave at that particular station yet at the same time, the temperature at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh has dropped to just 20.1°C so we now have quite a big temperature contrast between the north and south of the city.

Jerry in the south of Edinburgh will be interested to know though that the temperature at Swanston is also currently 25.1°C as I write.

This is the year in which the Sun just won't stop shining and because of that, the Sun is even winning this latest battle against the incoming easterly muck and coming through a bit more strongly once again.

However, the temperature at the airport and the botanic gardens has now dropped all the way back to just 17°C and even at Edinburgh Gogarbank, there has been a slight drop to around 22°C which means that today isn't going to be quite as hot in the end as yesterday.

One of the best days of the summer here today. Max 25.4C, clear blue skies and a pleasant light breeze. Even the neighbours were out somewhere so for once I could sit outside amongst the shrubs and trees and enjoy the peace and quiet!

23°C at 5pm. A cool enough wind made it reasonably comfortable except in a few periods of blazing sunshine! There a village gig going on at the local pub, local bands, so the background noise is entertaining.

Peak of 30.1c here earlier with a current reading of 29.8c. White, watery heat. 

High of 27 around middle of day has dropped to 21 at 5pm with a refreshing SE breeze .

Maxed at 31.8c today just before 3pm so quite early like yesterday, a degree down today.

Still sat at 28.8c so another lovely evening ahead.

Not the adjective I'd use, personally!

Here at least it will be a decent evening, compared with recent weeks anyway. It's presently 20.8, dew 16.8, with a gentle NE'ly continuing. The wind means no BBQs to stink things up, and the people who usually make a racket at weekends seem to be out elsewhere tonight. It's now down to 25 upstairs, and should continue to fall slowly... meaning it should be better for sleeping tonight. 

The high today was 23.4, a mere quarter of a degree above average.

A very pleasant walk on the downs in the Isle of Wight today with a fresh breeze off the sea. Weatherobs' current readings for this part of the south coast are 20-22C; it felt like 22-24C midday while walking.

Back in Chichester, my thermometer is showing 24C

That however, is not forecast to happen tomorrow although tomorrow's forecast maximum for Hawick in the Scottish Borders has been upgraded back up to around 25°C by the Met Office, so an official heatwave might still be recorded down there tomorrow prior to my arrival down there on Monday.

Earlier on today, there was a failed attempt by some easterly muck to come in from off the North Sea but the reason why I call it that is because the Sun was too strong for it on this occasion and it wasn't long before the afternoon became mostly sunny once again.

As a result, this appears to have not had any impact whatsoever on today's sunshine totals at Edinburgh Gogarbank where a total of 13.2 hours of sunshine was once again recorded for today as at 6:40pm BST (17:40 UTC) this evening. However, there are still some bits and pieces of easterly muck coming in at times and the sunshine doesn't quite look as bright or persistent this evening as it did yesterday at that same time, so today as a result will probably end up going down as being not quite as sunny as today. I have a feeling that this early muck will probably come in a lot more during the night, and that this will be what completely scuppers our chances of an official heatwave being recorded here tomorrow.

I am still sweltering in this little flat though as the temperature here in Edinburgh is still at around 20°C as I write.

Was out for a walk around swanston and could see the fog/cloud bank sitting in the forth, the castle in front of the gloom and the lomond hills in fife peeking up above it
