Some of us might hope to see some early birds now like sandmartins and wheatears. Any sightings?

I'll add a small white that settled on the olive tree outside the office yesterday afternoon.

More honey bees visible than same time last year and a bumble not sure what species is a regular visitor most days.

One for Fairweather if he reads this.

I discover the osprey I've been watching is a female, not a male as I first thought! There's a bit of a story to this: explains a lot.

I can hear a chiffchaff out in the back garden, somewhere in one of the neighbours tree's or evergreen bushes.

I've just seen a peacock butterfly in the back garden, probably drinking in dew drops from the grass, as were a small collection of some type of bee, maybe a type of mining variety, they were quite dark coloured, doing the same. At least that's all I could presume they were doing as the patch of grass was quite dewy and without flowers where I found them.

Out for a walk on the Downs today; peacock, red admiral and comma butterflies; two hares (not together), first bluebell and cow parsley in flower.. Bees also working a set of hives, but not in great numbers.

The bluebell dates in the last few years were 25/3/22, 1/4/23, 24/3/24 (& 2/4/25), and there's no discernible trend over the last 15 years. Earliest date was 27/2/16 and latest 24/4/13.

We had a pair of choughs visiting us a couple of days ago.

I wonder where they came from, either Cornwall or Jersey I suspect as both places are running rehabilitation programmes.

Quite interesting on the covid front as we have huge numbers of crows which don't allow magpies to breed locally, one of the few places I believe where no magpies have a presence.
