Continuing very much in the same vein as the past two winters. One decent spell otherwise completely dire, depressing and extremely uninteresting tripe in which it's a struggle to even achieve a frost.
The past 10 days have been the absolute pits. Totally uniniteresting, unusuable and unpleasant. A toxic mix of wind, rain. gloom, frostless and snowless. Can't get out cycling, no use for photography and feels nasty and cold all the time so heating needs to be on full blast. The perfect illustration of why British winters are good for absolutely nothing and the worst to be found anywhere on Earth.
Not a single cold or mild day. Constantly in the tedious range of 5-7C day after day and still a frost can't be achieved apart from one night in the past 10 where it plunged to -1C. Only one other night has got as that low since the cold spell ended on 12th January. Utterly dreadful.
Worst of all the Weekend Curse continues to plumb new depths. Hideously grim weekend. The temperature has more or less flatlined on 5C under rancid grey skies for the past 24 hours. Yesterday we had a horrendous wind to endure. Today that's been replaced by drizzle off the North Sea. As bad as it gets and the talk of possible easterlies makes me want to scream. Will end up the worst February for years.
27 months of constant vile grey Sundays. 27 months of Sunday constantly having the worst weather of the week. It would be enough to try the patience of the most tolerant and it just keeps getting worse and worse.
Averaging a beyond woeful 1.1 hours, or 17% of the possible sun, for Sunday this winter with not a single mostly sunny one. Horrific rubbish every single week. Needless to say it's the lowest I've recorded by some margin, the previous dullest being during 2008/09 when it averaged 1.47 hours (20%). No other winter recorded an average below 2 hours, and it will fall even lower after todays garbage is added in.
