Despite 10 of these nights being sub zero the daytime maximum temperatures tell a story of chilly but not cold down here.

Sleet was observed on 2 days, Snow was observed on 2 days.

Nothing settled of course.

The last tiny bit of our little snowman will go at some point today.

The two snow piles are down to around 9" high and 2' x 1' area.

They've done well to last a fortnight!

Our snowman disappeared yesterday but still lots of snow piles at the end of drives. Only 0.6c now so suspect they will last a fair bit longer.

Pockets of inversion to south of moors mean some places are still like this - taken Wednesday 15th but it won't have changed as they have had further very low temperatures.

We were up in the Lakes today (Tarn Hows, if anyone knows it) and the tarn - it's a big tarn, like a small-medium lake - still had a layer of thick ice on it.

There were also the odd piles of snow that had been cleared by minor roads.

And the temp maxed out at 0c. MBY reached only 2c.

It was misty and murky and utterly beautiful. There was barely a breath of wind and smoke from log burner chimneys was rising almost undisturbed. We had a quick post-walk drink in a country pub with a real fire crackling away as the light began to fade. 

Idyllic.

Even though the cold spell has been pants in my back yard for snow it has been really lovely to feel like we're in winter for once. 
Currently living at roughly 65m asl North of Cowbridge in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Formerly of, Birdlip, highest village in the Cotswolds and snow heaven in winter; Hawkinge in Kent - roof of the South downs and Isles of Scilly, paradise in the UK.
