Fairly mild considering the rest of the country. Currently 6.1c with a gentle WNW breeze. High and medium level cloud C/S A/S now moving in from the west. With S/C below that making it look a blue/grey in colour.

Hard frost all day here, no melting. Min of -6 C this morning, a Max of 0.5 C this afternoon and already down to -1.4 C at 5pm.

Clear sky all day but the sun still not rising above the horizon here in my part of Blackford

Incidentally at 5pm there was still a glimmer of twilight!

We've had a pretty cold day and the only snow that thawed was anything that caught the sun, and some of that is solid ice. Maxed for a very short time at 4c at 2pm then dropped steadily to what is now -1.2c, DP of -3c. There's still plenty of crisp snow around and a damn sight more ice, I parked in the town center car park at 16:30  and it was lethal, probably a few broken bones today I'd imagine.

A very cold and frosty start to yet another day with an official air frost at all three of my local stations once again.

Last night's overnight temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was -6.6°C with the temperature even dropping as low as -8°C at Edinburgh Airport which makes last night our coldest night of the winter so far and our coldest night since 2 December 2023.

The skies are clear just now and this morning should start off on a bright and sunny note a bit later on when the Sun comes up.

Currently around -6°C here in Edinburgh.

A grey morning to start, it still looks nice though with what lying snow we have left, temperature -2.2 with a low of -3.2c at 05:25, DP -3c. Not a breath of wind but still feel colder than it is, very raw.

Coldest night, so far, in the garden, got down to -4.3c at around 7:15 this morning. -2.6c right now clear, calm and bright with a heavy frost on all surfaces.

The cold spell has broken here. While we just avoided an ice day yesterday(reached +0.2c), frost persisted all day. It did get down to -2.8c last night but it was 3.6c this morning and cloudy. The frost is gone and the remaining snow is fast thawing. Hopefully, it's not another 4 years before I see lying snow again!

Sun's come out here - booooo!

I love how atmospheric it feels when it's freezing, murky and there's snow on the ground.

As well as the lying snow, there's a rime on the trees making their bare branches white. The scene is magnificent, one of my favourite sights in nature.

Still an air frost present with 0.8 C & low 90% H currently after a min of -2.2 C at 8 am. Not as sunny with more in the way of high cloud, though.

I think that's how it is good as it'll get with this Winter IMBY.  😁

Last night's overnight minimum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank has now been corrected downwards to -6.8°C which now makes last night our joint coldest night (along with 2 December 2023) since 8 March 2023.

There was quite a bit of cloud around for a while this morning but the skies are now mostly clear once again and so it is also mostly sunny once again.

Meanwhile, the temperature here in Edinburgh has now gone up to around -3°C but since it is now after 9am (09:00 UTC), an official air frost will now be recorded once again for tonight at all three of my local stations regardless of what happens between now and 9am GMT (09:00 UTC) tomorrow morning.

A beautiful winter's day outside - crisp sunshine and such a heavy hoar frost that it looks almost like a dusting of snow. The ground is frozen solid, and (before I removed it) there was around 3mm of ice in the bird bath - it's now got some tepid water in it, steaming merrily away!

It's most unusual to have a temperature of -1C in the late morning, and I'm enjoying every minute. It'll go above freezing later, but I expect it to be one of those days where the frost stays in the shade all day long.

-1.1, dew -1.9, and -1.1 is the high so far. Last night's low was -3.6 in the end, the coldest night since 2022 (when it reached -3.9).

The sun is just peeping over Blackford Hill for the first time since early December! Always a sign that we are moving forward to Spring

Very cold again though, last night was -7 C and it's still -2.5 C at Noon! Another very widespread frost but lovely blue sky

At the same time though, this is what destroys our chances of getting an actual ice day because despite those really low overnight temperatures, the temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank and Edinburgh Airport have now jumped up to around 1°C (0..8°C at Gogarbank).

For now, we're still hanging onto a temperature of -2.1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh but it will no doubt be above freezing there before too much longer in the sunshine.

No ice day here, we are up to the heady heights of 0.1c. I thought the cloud that spilled at dawn would make it close and it certainly has been so far.

Think the Gogarbank temp could be wrong John?

It's 2pm and still -2 C here 🤔

Edit.....i see the Airport is also 1 C

I think it's because I'm in a frost hollow

According to weatherobs.com, all of the stations in Edinburgh are now above freezing with even Swanston in the south of Edinburgh now reporting a temperature of 0.6°C.

In addition to that, the figures for Gogarbank are fairly consistent overall with those figures which are being recorded for the other Edinburgh stations.
