Today has started off with an official air frost at all three of my local stations but the overnight minimum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was only down to -0.5°C which for a cold spell in the very heart of winter is very poor indeed.😡
I'm noticing that 2 cm of lying snow has been recorded at Edinburgh Gogarbank and there is some frost around but I have no idea as to where that reading could have come from as there is certainly no lying snow around here in NW Edinburgh and not even a massive amount of frost (there's certainly no way that there is anything like enough frost around to equate to 2 cm of lying snow).
Nevertheless, the skies are clear just now which means that once the Sun comes up a little bit later on, we should get some decent sunshine to start the day at least.
Currently around 0°C here in Edinburgh and only just below freezing and no more even though the Sun hasn't yet risen which means that this should be the coldest part of the overnight period on average.😡
