Mace Head near Limerick at 2200 mean 107km/h, gust 141km/h

Pretty much on the wane here now though still with stronger gusts coming in occasional waves. More of a rain event than wind. Max gust at two of the nearest stations both had 53 knots. It seems the GFS was closest the mark for here, and even then, it overdid the strength. Latest gust report for Knock Airport is 67 knots, but given that is located at a high altitude, this is hardly surprising.

It's only just begun here... standard strong SW'lies at the moment, plenty of whooshes and creaks, with gusts generally in the 40s (models have low 50s instead, so overcooking it by about 7 mph). The models all show a sharp ramp up to mid to high 50s in the next 3 hours, then it plateaus for the rest of the morning. Can't say I'm looking forward to it!

The good news, if any, is that tonight's NW'lies/northerlies have decreased a bit, staying in the high 40s rather than the mid 50s.

Hope those in the west are faring okay...

BBC's latest update: 

"The Met Office has issued its highest-level red warning as potentially life-threatening weather is expected. The alert is in place from 03:00 to 11:00 GMT on Saturday. Western and southern Wales along with the Bristol Channel coast are all covered by the warning. The storm is expected to cause "significant disruption", the Met Office said."

Max gusts as of 5AM, via NW  - 75mph and up only. Neither Aberdaron or Aberporth have reported their 5 AM gusts, oddly enough!

Woken by the wind so decided to check outside and rescued a glass top from a large table which had been blown out of its mountings but miraculously not shattered. Looking at the highest wind speeds locally, Pembrey has recorded 75mph. Mumbles Head is the most local station and is a very exposed site so it will be interesting to see its highest reading.

Edit: just seen Retron's post and Pembrey is now 81mph!

MetO app has 57mph gusts even in London for the next few hours. This is a lot higher than it was showing yesterday afternoon.

At the moment it sounds worst than the wind speed would suggest. Having an exposed house is not ideal. Culdrose is recording gusts to 60 mph at the moment..

My back garden is sheltered by high trees so we don't too get battered by the highest winds, I've recorded a gust of 39mph but something stronger pick up a loose 8ftx2ft lattice fence panel and threw it 15ft, no damage. On a broader spectrum we are sheltered by the Mendip hills here which lessens the blow quite a bit so elsewhere it's going to be pretty bad I would think. At the moment it's a very strong gale which is making a hell of a noise through the trees.

Perhaps the top speeds look a little down on forecast so far. But looks like a lengthy spell of gales here at least doesn't calm down until tmrw afternoon.

It looks like windspeeds have been a bit lower than forecast - a couple of low 90s in the most exposed parts of Wales. Here in the Vale of Glamorgan the exposed station at St Athan recorded 71mph (top forecast was 80mph) so not quite as strong predicted. 
Currently living at roughly 65m asl North of Cowbridge in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Formerly of, Birdlip, highest village in the Cotswolds and snow heaven in winter; Hawkinge in Kent - roof of the South downs and Isles of Scilly, paradise in the UK.

It’s almost flat clam here at the moment with hardly a breath of wind, although it was a bit windy around 2 am but nothing extreme.  We’re forecast 60mph gusts peaking this afternoon, so we’ll be the lucky ones escaping the worst again.

Rather blowy along the south coast but nothing unusual for the time of year. Last couple of autumns we had much stronger gusts than this. Another December written off from a true coldies perspective .

Checking the radar I can see Lincolnshire is in the "eye" of the storm, as we quite often seem to be. An old friend used to term it "The Horseshoe Round the Wash". It is certainly looking dramatic, and I think we will get a good rattling this afternoon.

We’re just 2 miles from luton airport, lots of go arounds this morning . One wizz air has been around twice. 

Wind certainly picked up here in last hour
