It is certainly looking like a very mild first 10 days to the month. Could well be in double figures by the end of the first third

Knowing our luck the warm pattern will probably end in the summer

I don't like extreme summer heat but always feels a waste when that happens
It's also been warm in the most uninspiring way possible . Always with the dull and wet !

Which is why I think the media have been strangely silent about what is now quite a remarkable run of anomalous warmth since last September, would certainly be getting much more attention if it was March to Sept and accompanied by sunny and dry conditions

And as only one out of the last 34 months has been below average, I certainly won't be expecting any more... we'll get one eventually (and it'd be lovely if it happened in summer), but expecting any given month to be colder than average? That's a great way to be in for disappointment IMO.

Aprils predictions from EACU Royal Sussex County Hospital as i have been here 5 hours already

We have all gone warmer than average, which is hardly surprising given the last few month's record breaker. Only one prediction goes that high
right now, it looks like any sub 10.5 is probably too cold but let us wait and see

Have we ever had a really warm April that was also dull and wet ?
Every one I can think of off the top of my head was also dry /sunny

It feels like March to Sept is the period of the year when warm synoptics normally favour dry and fine weather , this obviously flips on its head for autumn and winter (eg frankly most autumn and winters we've had in last 30 or so years , especially the ones just gone!)

Ooh.  With the mild weather today, I’d be surprised if it isn’t over 11c tomorrow.

Surprised to see the CET so high , it doesn't feel anywhere near the level of 2007 or 2011 yet  statistically it's clearly not far off already hitting the levels for the whole month on those occasions . In a month which is notorious for getting warmer later and almost always seems to deliver a widespread 22-25c plus period in second half these days
I guess we are conditioned to expect April to be warm these days . Very few cool ones since the 1980s and 2021 therefore stood out like a sore thumb
