March up here has been reasonably dry so far (17mm = 26%), cool (mean 5 C = -0.5 C) and very dull (20hrs sun = 20%)

Looks like things are changing on the precipitation though, rain is set in for the day after a rare sunset last night, it's 6 C

In addition to that, the temperatures are also refusing to rise, and remain stuck as a rather chilly 6°C here in Edinburgh as at 11am GMT (11:00 UTC) this morning.😡

Horrendous so far today, at least 8 hours of steady rain so far, a NE breeze picking up and a max of 6.5 C 🤢

So the mild air never reached up here. Another cold wet day, 6 C max!! I see it will stay cool tomorrow and Saturday too. Still firmly in winter up here 🥶

Meanwhile in that faraway land of the SE it's 17 C!! We can only dream of that

Nevertheless, it certainly isn't even the least bit spring-like today.😡

We need to split this thread if not all threads into a northern branch and southern branch. So often the weather is the complete opposite.

So today is our first decent day of 2024. Sunny and bright periods, dry and climbing to 18.3C mid afternoon - the warmest of 2024 by some distance. Long may it continue but I doubt it will by t he looks of it!

Cloudy with rain just to the west - it'll be here soon.

13.3, dew 10.3 after a high of 16.8 - beating the 15.9 on the 15th Feb, so the warmest day of the year so far.

A mere 6 degrees above average, that almost counts as cold these days! 😁

Here in Edinburgh, it's finally stopped raining after what has been a complete write-off of a day but there are still quite a number of showers around even now.

Since 9am GMT (09:00 UTC) this morning, a total of at least 18.4 mm of rain has fallen at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 11pm GMT (23:00 UTC) tonight which makes today our wettest day of this year so far.

Meanwhile, the temperature as at that same time, continues to be stuck at around 6°C here in Edinburgh.

Another day has dawned but our permacast hell goes on.

It's also very misty with light rain and drizzle continuing to fall here.

Meanwhile, the temperature here in Edinburgh continues to be stuck at around 6°C as at 7:40am GMT (07:40 UTC) this morning with no diurnal temperature range whatsoever.😡

It's turning into another horrible day here in Edinburgh as the rain has got much heavier once again with even some fairly bright echoes showing up on the latest radar map in a number of place.

Nevertheless, we now finally have a slight shift in the temperature to around 7°C as at 10am GMT (10:00 UTC) this morning.

30 hours of rain or drizzle now with a period of thick fog from late afternoon yesterday until 6am this morning. As yesterday the temperature is around 6 C.

Interesting during the night though, according to the records from Swanston the temperature rose from 5.8 C to 8.8 C and back down to 6 C. This is explained as a waving front/low pressure centre passing over. The moderate rain is now blowing in on a northerly wind which makes sense.

Edinburgh folk that I know are thoroughly fed up with this cold, gloomy and wet March for sure. When will we see the sun??

A proper spring day today - a splash of rain, a sunny spell, some cumulus... and some wind. The sun is warm, strong enough to burn now, but it's not out for long before another cloud drifts across. The garden is full of hoverflies and, surprisingly, several butterflies!

15.5, dew 11.5, the high so far being 15.9. Last night's low was 10.7 and there was 0.6mm of rain earlier in the morning.

A grand sunny afternoon just now - 14decC with a bit of wind. Might even sit in the garden for a bit. 😊

Update  - a short walk round the village, then a pleasant sit in the garden watching a rainbow in the east*. 14deg. Lovely afternoon.

The rain has finally stopped here in Edinburgh.

It's even brightened up a bit and the sun has come out as well.

However, the temperature here in Edinburgh is still only around 7°C as at 3pm GMT (15:00 UTC) this afternoon.

Glorious sunny morning here. 4degC at present. Lawn-mowing day I'd guess. 😁 I've been watching the osprey on the webcam... It has been fetching in twigs for the nest today.

A much better start to today than of late here in Edinburgh.

Last night was much colder than of late with an official air frost at all three of my local stations but that has now taken us into a bright and sunny start to today which is something that is very rarely seen in these parts these days.

Meanwhile, the temperature as at 8:10am GMT (08:10 UTC) this morning was around 1°C here in Edinburgh.

Despite the cold start to today here in Edinburgh, it's now turning out to be a bit warmer than of late with a temperature of around 10°C as at 12 noon GMT (12:00 UTC).

There's a bit more in the way of cloud around now, but we're still getting some fairly decent sunny intervals at times.
