Weather conditions to be treasured to avoid the dreaded switch on !

No central heating needed since 5th May.

I reckon Friday will be the first day I need it - some very cold nights with low single figures progged. That'll knock it right down in my house.

Yes Gavin. A cool upper flow setting in with some cold nights will do some damage. Especially so if we get convective afternoon infill. The aim is to try to retain as much internal warmth as possible before then.

Yesterday the temperature rallied, peaking at 22.4c, thanks to some low angle prolonged sunshine through those windows between 4.30 and 5.30pm.

I'm looking forward to Monday when hopefully we can let in some 25c outside air in.

I took a look at the GFS run and we should see many sunny days next week and cool nights so might be my house temps would drop below 20C over nights due to shutters still opened.  I will return home on 22nd and HP already over us and moving east so that will bring back low 20's as par the graph show after a cool dip.  Once I return home indoor temps will be back to 23-24c and 21-23c over night lows with shutters closed.   With lower sun angel will bring more sunlight indoors and easier to raise temps than in summer months.

Maybe you might not needed if sunny because today look very polluted and not much sun so not warm feeling but feel warm factor next week, I see Nuneaton going for 17C and sunny while on Monday over reacting rain 23C which I know either 23C is very wrong or rain symbol is very wrong but I prefer 17c and sunny which will make indoors more warmer than today or tomorrow if no sun.

21C outside, 21C downstairs and 24C upstairs. Windows open - will probably need a spot of a/c this evening the way it's going.

...and I did need a/c in the end, as it reached 26C even with the windows open. Got it down to 19C upstairs before turning it off, whereupon it rose to 24C again overnight.

It's now 23C upstairs and 20C downstairs. Going to be a warm one today, judging by the mist outside!

Good internal warming yesterday, peaking at 24.3c in the hallway late yesterday afternoon. Outside temps of 23c, calm conditions and low angle sun through the doors into the house between 3 and 5.30pm really really helped.

The thick curtains were closed by 8pm to retain the warmth and as a result we have achieved a starting temperature of 22.9c in the hallway this morning (up 1.5 from yesterday).

The chill at the end of the week is coming. Its all about preservation at the moment. Today will be a good day to get more stored up.

30.4 C in my south-facing living room which has a floor-to-ceiling window. No A/c though - I can retreat to the study which remains cool.

Solar hot water at 59.1 C (FWIW, with a higher sun angle earlier in the year it would easily have reached max working temp 66.5 C on a day like this)

Unbearably warm and humid (17.5C dp indoors). Just as well I have the day off work, it'll give me a headstart on cooling things... time to get the portable a/c cranked up!

Holding up at 21c inside despite nobody being in the house all weekend, good to get to this stage in September and not even have to contemplate the heating.
Later this week could be a test though.

The a/c only got it down to 20C before I turned it off to go to bed - the MetO automated had light rain later in the evening, so best not to have a large exhaust hose dangling out of a window.

25.4C this morning, what a steamy, sticky night for sleeping that was. Awful!

It's still 22C downstairs too, which is very warm for four in the morning.

18.7C is the overnight low outside so far. Cooler, single-degree nights can't come soon enough for me!

Cooler air is on its way, quite a contrast in temps though this morning.

We are in the cooler air at 8.3c and the house is just under 19c now .

23.5c in the hallway this morning. (up to 0.6 from yesterday).

A warm day yesterday with an outside temperature of 25c and low angle sunshine between 3 and 5pm before the arrival of the cloud pushed the internal temperature up to 24.3c.

Only 0.8c was lost overnight thanks to closed windows and curtains. An outside overnight low of 18.3c has also helped.

Toasty...

22.5 in my brother house in Letchworth, quite cold and cloudy outside while back home Nuneaton sunny so that should keep the house temps warmer inside.

Another warm night last night (windows closed again due to rain), leaving things at 22C up and 20C down.

It's meant to be cloudy today, so even as temperatures hit 20C later it should continue to cool down slowly.
