Cambridge and Heathrow both 39C on the 1250 METARs but Twitter rumours say Heathrow was 40.2C at 1250, which doesn't add up.

I actually put a bet on 40-41.9°C being the UK high today. I might end up having to cash out at this rate.

39.2c in Watford and still more hours of heat to come.

I never thought 40c would have been breached in my lifetime in the UK, I have been recording the weather data since 1982 and you can see the worrying warming trend!

Whenever the Met Office Tweet about another record temperature being reached somewhere, the first reply will be from someone (generally with a union jack next to their name) dismissing it as wrong/a conspiracy.

Bbc weather saying 42c expected this afternoon along the A1 corridor.
