Still very little rain here, as has been the case throughout Spring.  Odd spits yesterday, then a decent shower in the evening, enough to wet the roads.  There has been rain within a few miles but it always seems to miss us.

As I have said many times on this forum, water restrictions are coming as a result of this ongoing lack of rainfall which we have here as well.

That is shown by the fact that for here in SE Scotland in particular, the official advice from SEPA is already for us to be very careful about the amount of water which we are using as a result.

We weren't forecast to get rain today (until today's forecasts), and we've just having the last bit of steady rain (with big drops). Won't amount to much, but gives everywhere a freshener

With just a week left of this month after today, this month's total is still standing at just 21.8 mm at Edinburgh Gogarbank and only 15.6 mm at a very parched botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

That came about after a total of just 1.4 mm of rain was produced by last night's showers at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with just 0.8 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Overall, those above totals for this month about to just 31.7% of the 1991-2020 June average at Edinburgh Gogarbank and only 23.6% of the 1991-2020 June average at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

This has been ongoing for quite a long time now, to the point where there has just gone a joke now!!

The latest rainfall data for Edinburgh Gogarbank and the botanic gardens in Edinburgh are as follows:

Data For Recent Days

24 Hour Total Up To 10am BST yesterday morning (09:00 UTC): 1.4 mm at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 0.8 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh
Total since 10am BST yesterday morning (09:00 UTC): 3.4 mm at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 1.6 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh (as at 6am BST this morning on Saturday 25 June 2022)

Still not a lot overall, but a bit more than what we've been used to getting recently.

Monthly Data

Total for this month so far: 25.2 mm (36.6% of 1991-2020 June average) at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 17.2 mm (26.0% of 1991-2020 June average) at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh
Number of rain days during this month so far: 8 (71.8% of 1991-2020 June average) at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 6 (57.7% of 1991-2020 June average) at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh
Number of dry days during this month so far: 13 at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 13 at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh

This means that just another 4 or more rain days now needs to be recorded at Edinburgh Gogarbank between now and the end of this month in order for this month to go down as being wetter than average there in terms of the number of rain days.

This means that just another 5 or more rain days now needs to be recorded at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh between now and the end of this month in order for this month to go down as being wetter than average there in terms of the number of rain days.

Despite a changeable outlook in the model output though, neither of those above two scenarios are actually likely to happen as there are only 5 days left of this month after today, so every single one of the next 5 days at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh would need to go down as an official rain day and that is very unlikely, even going by the latest model output, although we can never rule out the possibility at this time of the year of a massive downpour which could produce enough rainfall to skewer this month's totals by enough to produce a wetter than average month in terms of the actual rainfall amounts.

Seasonal Data

Total for this Summer so far: 25.2 mm (11.7% of 1991-2020 Summer average) at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 17.2 mm (8.2% of 1991-2020 Summer average) at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh
Number of rain days during this Summer so far: 8 (23.7% of 1991-2020 Summer average) at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 6 (18.6% of 1991-2020 Summer average) at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh
Number of dry days during this Summer so far: 13 at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 13 at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh

Annual Data

Total for this year so far: 255.8 mm (32.6% of 1991-2020 year average) at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 210.8 mm (29.0% of 1991-2020 year average) at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh
Number of rain days during this year so far: 61 (44.4% of 1991-2020 year average) at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 54 (42.1% of 1991-2020 year average) at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh
Number of dry days during this year so far: 84 at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 83 at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh

The horror washout weekend failed to materialise, thank god, so it looks like June will finish as only the 2nd dry month (<90%) in the past year.

18.6mm so far which is just above the 18.4mm total for last June which along with January was the only other dry month in the previous 12.

Hopefully July, August, September and October will all follow suit. All bar September long overdue for a notably dry month.

Would be nice to see a prolonged completely rain-free spell. The most June managed was 7 days. More a complete lack of anything properly wet. Haven't had 5mm since 16th May and 10mm since 5th April.

Very localised downpour around 6pm unfortunately during the Yateley music festival. 11mm in about half an hour. Farnborough just down the road only saw 0.2mm.

Just came on to add that!

At last some measurable rain. 32mm

Really could've done with catching one of the larger areas of showers which moved up but they mostly missed. Nothing much in the forecast either.
