An article largely about climate change, but it reports that in Delhi this summer, the temp has topped 42c on 25 days so far (highest since the record-breaking 2012), maxing out at 49c in May - an all-time record. On Sunday, the night time temp only fell to 33c.
The heat arrived early, too, with March smashing the record for heat. The prolonged heat is damaging crops, leading to India reneging on a promise to export its surplus wheat to replace the Ukrainian wheat exports lost due to the Russian invasion.
