Sorry yes I was looking at the wrong figure - it is indeed 12.9C so just short of the record. Still the equal second highest on record I think.

Many thanks .
I was trying to explain this to a friend while sozzled last night when we were discussing 2021 achievements and the best way I could think of to put it was
"I've won fantasy weather on the internet" (riffing on fantasy football which is essentially the same as this but for the Premier League...)
Many thanks to GW for the always on point analysis and charts and here's to another year of weather watching in the competition that makes weather exciting even when it's "boring"! (Much like Fantasy Football in many ways come to think of it...)

Congratulations SSWD.

I probably had the best year I've ever had at this game apart from November and December.

Great effort as always GW.

Congratulations to SSWD for his win and Global for the annual prediction win!

By far my worst year ever, at least in terms of position. Onwards and upwards for 2022.

Congratulations to SSWD, and many thanks to GW for running this competition.

Surprised I moved up a few places in the end despite being more than a degree out for December.

I was the only person in the competition to fail to come within 0.5C of the actual CET every single month! Some achievement.

Cheers, GW

And formal congrats to SSWD

At one point around mid-December it looked like the stars were going to align and the weather gods play ball to bring us that most fabled weather event of Yuletide cold and snow, but twasn't to be and a distinctly unfestive dollop of mild gruel was delivered instead.

Commiserations Saint!  You had it snatched away right at the end but you gave us a good competition!  Keep it up!

The CET comp can be cruel.

2 years ago I had been leading for much of the year but when it came to December I was suckered in by models predicting a cold spell. It never happened, my rivals for the title predicted much milder and somehow I managed to only finish 4th.

It was a real 'Devon Loch' moment!

Saint could have won the overall with a 5.55 or higher prediction in December instead of going low with 4.50.

Bolty and myself could also have won with a high enough prediction but we all went below average.

Nevertheless its a 12 month contest and SSWD was the most consistent player throughout the year.
