I'm sure I've just heard thunder. Not sure if it the one popping up over Manchester or the cell near Oldham.

Looks as though it is tipping it down towards Prestwich on the radar.

A few lightning strikes showing across south Devon recently although not much in the way of associated rain.

Yes the ones in the Channel Islands look interesting. I'm quietly optimistic to see lightning/hear thunder in the next few hours on the South Dorset coast. The first this summer and indeed for several years if it comes to pass.

When you look at the lightning map what could possibly make them skirt by to the east and west?

It is. Back from Weymouth where at 8pm was near dark and Portland looking almost menacing against the dark sky. Back home the last of the sun. The whole lot seems to be expanding so fingers crossed for first thunder storm in what seems years here. I guess that the people in tents (hundreds/thousands perhaps) won't be so appreciative of what's heading off the Channel tonight.

Starting to hear a few distant rumbles of thunder, but they remain very intermittent. Earlier rain cleared leaving a slight dampening.

Occasional lighting but not exactly the most energetic of storms. Some heavy downpours to but again typical channel stuff which looks much worse on radar then actually is.

I've just been woken by the dogs, they hate thunder and they're making more fuss and noise than what's going on outside, the occasional loudish rumble but nothing I would normally have stayed up for.

Yes it sort of fizzled out by the time it had ambled across the Channel last night. Still managed to break the electrical storm drought of past few summers in a desultory sort of way.
