Funnily enough, I was saying just exactly the same thing on today's CC thread earlier on this afternoon.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

I’m not there currently but it has been a decent summer in Aberdeen so far (bar a couple of weeks) and looks like staying that way. I hoped I haven’t doomed it now!

It’s still 26°C in my garden. I’m in another garden in NI enjoying similar conditions.

No doubt it will still be a vile, disgusting and souless day.

That's because I wasn't here the past week meaning I missed the 27.7C that was reached on Friday.

Was in Stirling. Weather wasn't great to start but really picked up from Monday onwards. Thursday was the hottest day there.

Now I'm back the weather has returned to the same soul destroying grey gunk that I left on the 9th July.

It's yet another putrid grey Sunday. 10C cooler than yesterday but not bothered about that as could do with a break from the heat. It's the unrelenting overcast I can't stand.

I can't put into words just how sick to death I am of constantly having to endure these revolting conditions on one of my two days off when it is supposed to be summer

Sunday sunshine this summer:

6th June - 4.8hrs

13th June - 9.3hrs

20th June - 0.0hrs

27th June - 3.0 hrs

4th July - 0.0 hrs

11th July - 3.2 hrs

Just one decent Sunday so far and even that only produced a total that could be recorded during winter. The only day of the week not to record a 10+ hour total.

Sun averages by day of week:

Thu - 9.73

Sat - 7.80

Tue - 7.06

Fri - 6.94

Wed - 6.13

Mon - 4.57

Sun - 3.38

Saturday has been the second sunniest day but it's not good enough to cancel out the lousy Sundays.  Thursdays which also averaged over 9 hours in 2018. About time we saw a weekend day put in that kind of performance but no it never happens. It's always at least one of the weekend days putting in a pitiful performance.

Only 2007 and 2012 produced a lower average than 3.38 hours, which says it all, and the average will likely fall further today. A rotten 0.3 hrs recorded so far with no sign of the grim rubbish breaking.

Sunshine hours have been bizarre this month. I've been saying how it's increasingly all or nothing as regards sunshine amounts and this month has been the most extreme example. Not a single day has recorded between 5.3 hours and 13.3 hours which is ridiculous.

Five brilliantly sunny days (1st, 14th-17th) produced 74.6 hours between them compared to a stupefyingly awful 20.1 hours in the 12 days from the 2nd to 13th. What you would expect in December so a spell of rank summer weather on a par with 2007/12 just like this terrible run of godawful Sundays.

I really hope this isn't the start of another extended spell of misery

I always knew that normal service would be resumed here before too long.

It certainly is - if you like cool weather, like me. Horrible weekend just gone (too hot to work outside by mid-morning) and an unpleasant week to come, plenty of sweat (from me) and BO (at work - classrooms stink in hot weather) to come...

The weekend looks like seeing a return to normal temperatures, at least, but I don't have a great deal of faith that it'll be as relatively cool as the forecasts suggest.

The two of you need to house swap. Seems like the obvious solution.

Typing this from a hot famed west-facing hobby room where it is 32 C in here while it is 20 C outside at 7.15 pm - and that is with a window wide open (my indoors-only black cat has now learnt not to jump out from it). Solar input being at its most effective with the evening sun beaming straight into my room.

At least it looks like reasonable temperatures will return in time for my week off next week. That'll be good for getting the garden sorted, as well as for going on walks - wet I can handle, heat and humidity much less so.

Rainfall figures for Scotland this summer so far is 75mm up to 18th July

The Scottish June rainfall average is 82mm.

Could it be a summer where Scotland is drier than SE England?  (75mm to 138mm thus far)

Your famed west-facing hobby room would be Retron's idea of his very own personal hell....

It's been getting to 28/29C upstairs these past few days and that's getting rather too much for me to be honest. 25C is just about right for summer and I can slob around in just pair of shorts but approaching 30C, no thanks!

Perhaps an indoor temp thread would be in order?

Iam another that can`t stand this relentless heat and can`t wait for it to end and temperatures to drop considerably.

Whats happened to the summers we used to get without ridiculous temperatures??

Most people say the same, when it gets do hot you cannot function at the level you are used to , it is no fun at all . To the ones that say they love it , i would put them on bale cart like we did 30 years ago , all small bales man handled several times, stacked up to the roof in a Dutch Barn . One day of that in this heat they would whistle a different tune

No the heat is much welcome and much needed as we only get very few per year and rest of the year is cold often.
