I haven't seen snow stick so quickly in a rain to snow event like this since Dec 90.

From December 27th 2020, zonality will be banned from mixing with the UK. We appreciate that this may come as a shock to younger people and old Uncle Barty. This ban will last for a minimum of ten days.

Apparently there was sleet which turned to heavy wet snow over Dartmoor an hour or so back - here in Exeter just cold rain. But temp fell from a high of 12c to 6c in less than 5 hours. I wonder if this could be the fact that the precipitation is much heavier!?

That was what passed over here just before. Big gap now, and what's left doesn't look up to much (and Russ in Wirral reports latest ppn falling as rain)

Radar imagery supports an Ana Cold Front with the squall activity at the front and plenty of precipitation behind.

With winds dropping out as the initial squall passes, evaporative cooling takes place and the drop in temperature is being enhanced, since the heavy snow.

Some places are reporting a drop in temperature of 8'c in a few minutes

Snow settling well on top of last night's snow and has covered melted areas. Looks like a long night ahead!

Great to see all the snow reports from NW. Seems the snowline is now almost at Keighley, hoping we can get in on the action but think it might start to break up first . 2.7c with rain here.

Heavy snow in Walsall. Blown on by a strong wind.
Settling already which is remarkable given the amount of rain that's fallen. Temperatures nose diving from 9c to 3c in a few minutes.

I can confirm that this snow radar does not work, still no snow despite what it says!

Temperature dropped here from 8.5oC @ 9pm to 1.5oC @ 10pm and heavy snow, crazy! Not quite a Colorado drop off but impressive for here

Almost stopped here 😞 . It was looking quite nice and white an hour ago but it looks like we may have a quick melt from the wet ground

We've had some drizzle. Snow is dependent on ppn rate and evap cooling. It's slushed-up what was lying on pavements/roads, knocked snow off steeper parts of cars, etc.

Now a snow-sleet mix (looks like snow under the street light, but there's some wet drops also)

Nearly, yet so far...

I suspect further east and from around 100m asl will get all snow.
