As some of us suggested last week the new slogan wouldn't last:

The Government has begun using a new slogan in its coronavirus response following criticism that its "Stay Alert" message was too vague.

It is advising the public to "Keep our distance, wash our hands, think of others and play our part. All together".

I'm not totally appalled by the idea, having as a pensioner done asrt-time fruit-picking for the last 15 years or so and enjoyed it. Mind you, there are other things to be fitted in such as 24/7 care for my wife ;and also the picking itself being apples and pears - bending all day for ground-level picking would kill my back after a few hours. So not all plain sailing.

Regarding schools, this argument seems convincing to me. I struggle to see how anyone could argue against this.

Doubts over the US vaccine. Should add that the ludicrous article undermining the great results in monkeys of the Oxford vaccine had links with someone connected with the US vaccine. The politics of research and funding...

So it seems they haven’t changed their stance at all? More twisting of words by the Telegraph.

We all know what to do, how about a short and snappy, plain English  'don't mess it all up now'?

I am not sure if this is true or not, but apparently Serco have been issued the contract to support contract tracing.

In fact, where has this story about the BMA dropping their opposition to schools opening even come from? Their chair was on GMB just this morning stating that infections remain too high for them to open.

One further question to present this morning.

Sir Captain Tom Moore should absolutely be recognised for his wonderful efforts. I applaud the man I really do.

However do the government usually announce such things at this time of year? It seems like a good diversion to me.

I'm sure the fellow is a great bloke but it all seems like an example of the power of the media propelling a walk in the garden to near Saint hood.

I have. I'm not sure I have the words to describe the state of both the govt and the media in this country... or to describe how worried I am about where we are and where we are heading as a nation.

My wife who is a primary teacher currently trying to work out how to safely set up her class for June 1st said this morning as she left for work “Why do the media hate us?”  😢

Just watch them become ‘heroes’ in the very same newspapers when one of them dies.

It is the National Education Union which is the bete noire, not the teachers themselves (as far as I am concerned).

This is from The Times this morning:

"Unions show little sign of backing down over the issue. A video message from Mary Bousted, joint general secretary of the National Education Union, to union reps urged them not to reply to letters or emails from their heads."

  • when union officials are behaving like petulant children, it is not surprising that they are being taken to task.

Anyone following the cyclone approaching India and Bangladesh? I've not noticed any comments elsewhere.
Reason for posting it here is the possible impact on Covid-19 control measures. See:

Mods - please move if I've missed correct thread.
