9am Heathrow reading is a bonkers 28.8C. Smashing it so far.

That’s 2C above 2003 and nearly half a degree above 2015, which had a big blip in late morning.

Can anyone clarify whether there are two readings at Heathrow, one at xx.50 and one at xx.00? I noticed the hourly reading has sometimes changed after a few minutes on Weathercast so perhaps it puts in the 8.50 reading and then updates to the 9am one? If that is so then it increased by 1 whole degree between 6.50 and 7.00!

I’m tracking the storms over NW France with interest and concern.

https://www.meteo60.fr/radars-precipitations-pluie-france.php

If they remain smallish single cells then they’ll dissipate and we only need worry about home grown stuff and a bit of cirrus. If they grown in scale and become multicellular they could give us a mid afternoon pall of mid level muck, 2015-style. So far they’re hanging in there and not dissipating but not exploding either.

The more I look at those 2015 readings the more exceptional that record looks. After reaching 34C+ by 11am it dipped to 31C and you’d think it was game over but then it surged back up to 36C within a couple of hours during the afternoon.

Those showers over France haven't developed into storms at the moment, so cloud footprint not as extensive as it could be if they did.

Norwich city centre reporting 29 c current. Prob a bit high, but there is a huge lacking in weather stations here in Norfolk that can be relied upon.

Latest Harmonie is going for a top temp of 38.7c in London today and that within a possible range of between 37.1c and 40.2c  I am watching to see how this pans out in reality as this is the hi-res model that is officially used by our own Met Eireann here, and  which replaced the 'HIRLAM' model as the official 'go to'.

Other London max temps forecast by other models today:

HIRLAM 37.3c

ECMWF 36.1c

GFS: 35.0c

EURO4 35.2c

ICON EU: 36.0c.

ARPEGE: 37.2c

AMONE: 35.9c.

Just got off the train at Waterloo station and it was like stepping into a greenhouse under the big glass roof. Serious heat in London already.
