A thoroughly wet and miserable morning here in Edinburgh, courtesy of Storm Erik which has now made its presence felt here.
Over recent months, we haven't exactly been getting a lot of rain in this part of the world and yet, it is absolutely chucking it down here at the moment as I write.

So far as 8am this morning, a total of 2.4 mm of rain has fallen during today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank, along with 1.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. This means that today will now go down as an official rain day at both of those stations.
In addition to that, the wind has picked up as well. As that has happened as well though, the temperatures have ended up rising during the early hours of this month as our frost-free hell goes on.
Last night's overnight minimum temperature which was reached before midnight was 4.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 2°C at Edinburgh Airport and 2.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning had now gone up to 8.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 8.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh as milder air has moved in once again.
