Well up here in the Amber Snow area we have a bit of light rain.
Up here in the Amber Ice area it's damp but no ice.
Underwhelming so far....

Today has been a very dull and overcast day with nothing in the way of sunshine being recorded for today in the end at Edinburgh Gogarbank. This makes today, our sixth completely sunless day of this winter and although we are only just coming up to the halfway point in this month, we are already two thirds of the way to matching the number of sunless days which we had during this same month last year, so we now only need another three sunless days between now and the end of this month in order for that to happen.
There is some light rain around as Jerry has just reported but unlike in parts of the UK, this has been really struggling to take hold in this part of the world and once again, we are seeing yet another example of why we have been increasingly lagging behind the rest of the UK during this month so far when it has come to the overall rainfall totals for this month.
This is a real pity because the groundwater levels in the east of Scotland are still running very low, and we could really do with some additional rainfall to allow those groundwater levels to recover in this part of the world. Having said that, I can report that today's rainfall so far has resulted in a total of 0.4 mm of rain being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 0.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, but we really need to be doing a lot better than that.
Today's maximum temperature so far was reached during the very early hours of this morning and was 2.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 3°C at Edinburgh Airport and 2.8°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
Meanwhile, the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was 1.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 2°C at Edinburgh Airport and 1.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
