It's fairly breezy here at times, but also clear.

However, I have a feeling that there might be some sort of unexpected warm front which has moved through and dragged in some less cold air because not only are the temperatures refusing to drop at the moment, but they have actually gone up a bit over the last few hours.

As a result of that, the temperature at midnight was now up to 2.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 3°C at Edinburgh Airport and 3.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Because of that, I think that we can probably now, forget about any prospects of us getting any snow or freezing rain in this part of the world later on today as things now stand.

In tropical Hampshire it’s wet and windy - 5.2C. Arrived a notable 4hrs earlier than the 18Z E4 - not too good from that particular model.

Some clearer sky to my east, otherwise this morning is a lot more overcast (and frostless yet again) with the wind at Edinburgh Gogarbank gusting up to 41.6mph from the SSE at 8am this morning.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 0.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 1°C at Edinburgh Airport and 0.8°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, but with those temperatures being reached at a very very early point in time during the latter part of yesterday afternoon and the early part of yesterday evening.

Since then, the temperatures have just refused to drop and have ended up increasing a bit over time, so the temperature at 8am this morning was 2.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 3°C at Edinburgh Airport and 2.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, albeit with dew points which are still well below freezing.

The kind of morning where it is cold and you go out and it is cold.

Currently 1.9 c & 78% h giving a dp of -2 c with a strong southerly wind providing a notable wind chill here at this end of Kent. Even my normally warm cosy house is struggling to heat up. Overcast but currently bone dry, will be a different story and look by the end of today. I can't imagine the local night club revellers wanting to go out tonight.

Below freezing, overcast and windy -0.2C currently.

Precipitation is many miles away and looks fragmented - not really convinced much will happen here late afternoon.

It's been interesting, reading all of this morning's reports on other threads about light snow grains falling in the opposite side of Edinburgh from here, but I haven't seen any of that here so far. Because of that, today has just been yet another complete borefest as far as I'm concerned with plenty of constant grey skies with nothing which is even remotely interesting, actually happening.

The result of this is that nothing in the way of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

However, it is very windy with maximum wind gusts at Edinburgh Gogarbank getting up to 32.3mph from the ESE as at 12 noon.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was 1.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 2°C at Edinburgh Airport and 2.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
