The sky still appears to be fairly clear. However, the wind has picked up a bit once again and because there is now too much wind around, the temperatures yet again, are refusing to drop.

So, the temperature at midnight was 3.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 4°C at Edinburgh Airport and 3.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Yet another repulsive gloomy dark and damp morning following another night of mild frost free gunk. Temp 4.1C.

Highly appropriate that the yearly sun total has been stuck on 1666.6 hours for the past few days. These SE'lies are the work of the devil. Pure evil.

High cloud most of the night so no air frost but dropped to +0.3C around dawn, with ice on cars etc.

It looks like at least six hours of snow here from 5pm tomorrow, with slow thaw on Sunday.

Cloudier than of late but still with the odd bright breaks. It is also feeling truly cold in the brisk east wind with 3.5 c and the 73% h bringing dp down to -1 c. But it was also the same east wind and cloud cover that prevented temps from falling any lower than 3.3 c at 3 am last night and thus a frost was not observed here at the coastal edge.

Another lovely December day. Still frosty up here under Blackford Hill, still 1 C at Noon. December has not been too bad up here so far, fairly dry and bright with normal temperature, amazing skies with plenty of Altocumulus Lenticularis and a few frosts 👍

Current view of the Pentlands just to my south

I can remember years from my childhood where the Pentland Hills would already have had their first covering of snow by as early as late October with temperatures generally getting no higher than about 7°C here.

This means that to be this far into the year now without a single covering of snow on the Pentlands so far during this current autumn/winter season, is just ridiculous in my book.

Anyway and back on topic, A completely sunny morning here means that a total of 1.5 hours of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

There was a very late dip in the temperatures during this morning which was enough to result in a slight frost forming over cars and grassy areas. With the temperatures remaining above freezing though at all three of my local stations, this was no more than a slight ground frost.

This morning's minimum temperature was 0.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 1°C at Edinburgh Airport and 0.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

However, the temperatures have shot up be quite a bit over the last hour or so and at 12 noon, the temperature was 4.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 4°C at Edinburgh Airport and 2.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

According to the Met Office's most recent video forecasts on their own website, today was supposed to be the coldest day of the winter so far with the temperatures barely getting above freezing here. Yet, this is turning into yet another day which is not exactly all that cold for this time of the year.
