28C sunny. Much sunnier start to the day today so we are about a degree ahead of this time yesterday. Should touch 30C today I would think

There's not really much that I can say on this report as a continuously sunny morning has resulted in 5.6 hours of sunshine being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

The temperatures are still on the rise as well so that at 12 noon, the temperature was 24.5ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 25ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 24.4ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh so whilst we might not get all the up to 30ºC and beyond here in Edinburgh, there is still a good chance of today ending up being even hotter than yesterday in this part of the world.

A pretty good rebound considering we were still at 18c at 10.30am after several hours of storms - currently 28c, but the rainfall has meant it feels very humid. dp currently 19c, sunny spells.

In Otley, West Yorks for tonights entertainment. Might be too far west? Should see lightning though maybe? It's very humid here, lots of medium level cloud and 27 C. Got a good view south and east

Not sure we will see any more thunderstorms. Certainly nothing about at the moment.

Still not much going on here in Edinburgh as usual.

Today hasn't quite been as sunny overall as yesterday and the cloud cover which is around at the moment is having a slightly greater impact on today's sunshine totals at Edinburgh Gogarbank, than was the case yesterday even though there is actually a bit less of that cloud around today compared to yesterday. Nevertheless, a total of 9.6 hours of sunshine has still been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 5pm this evening.

Gavin P. mentioned in today's second video that away from the extreme SE of England which has been the centre of focus for a potential temperature record which has resulted in this forum being busier just now, than at any time since last winter, the rest of the UK probably wouldn't be quite as hot today as it was yesterday.

That has been be the case at Edinburgh Airport but not for my other two local stations where it has actually ended up being even hotter than yesterday. Furthermore, the temperatures have still not yet peaked here so because of what is happening, I will deal with each station individually in a slightly different way from how I usually do things on these threads.

At Edinburgh Gogarbank, the temperature at 5pm this afternoon had dropped sharply to 23.6ºC. However, today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 28.0ºC which is not only hotter than yesterday, but also makes today the joint hottest day of the year so far at that station.

At Edinburgh Airport, the temperature at 5pm this afternoon was 24ºC. Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Airport was 25ºC which is 3ºC cooler than yesterday, and was achieved much earlier today at 12 noon (that is a station where the temperature has generally been refusing to rise during this afternoon).

At the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, the temperature at 5pm this afternoon was 26.4ºC which is also today's maximum temperature at that station so far. That is slightly higher than yesterday's maximum temperature there, and makes today the hottest day of the year so far at that station.

An infruriating max of 29.9C here today. I get very few real shots at the big 3-0 and this was certainly one missed. That may be the last chance for this year.

Currently 27.7C. Mainly clear until mid afternoon then quite a lot more cloud but nothing threatening.

After what has been a fine and quite sunny day with a max of 27.6 C at 4 pm, finally a thunderstorm slowly rolled in from the Channel. However, while the storm isn't that bad, just moderate rain and the odd crack of lightning (I've experienced far worse), the leading gust front did take us by surprise. Thought my roof was going to take off, but next door's gazebo did end up in my back yard.

A very hot but extremely low humidity day at Le Pelerin in the Maconnais. 36C on the garden thermometer, little wind. A chilled bottle of rose didn’t pick up any condensation when brought outside. So dewpoint must have been 5C or lower. Grass and landscape as dry as Southern England.

But now it’s evening, the crickets and Grillons are chirping madly, and the sky is darkening. Suspicious gusts of wind, lowing cattle, odd boomy noises over the western horizon. Thunderstorms on the way.
