Decent if short-lived storm passed through. Lightning every few seconds for about 10 minutes. It seems to have passed for now.

Well that was remarkable.  From virtually nothing to a full blown thunderstorm in seconds with ferocious rain and intense lightning!, and then after just a couple of minutes the deluge just suddenly stopped.  Still some spectacular flashes on the back edge of this storm though - really was quite vicious for a short while.

EDIT - found 5mm extra rain in the gauge after this storm - most of that probably fell in those 2 to 3 minutes.  On top of 7mm from the earlier storms.

The radar is showing a nice band to my East moving North, although it’s fairly clear here at the moment with sunshine.  It looks like East Anglia and Lincolnshire are getting all the action.

.... And just as I thought it was safe to go for my morning jog!  Some loud long lasting thunder.  It’s just rumbling on and on!  And as I type, here comes the rain and the thunder still rumbles, on and on. It’s a long time since I’ve heard thunder last this long!  Oh, rain has stopped but thunder rolls on...

Excellent downpour here mostly from a bit before 5 for an hour. No close lightning which was strange as the radar looks like it was a direct hit. We have about 20mm collected in buckets etc. that should keep the garden alive for a bit longer!

The thunder’s still rolling on and has been for twenty minutes!  Some lightning was visible but we only got a few big spots of rain and the sun is now shining again. But the thunder is still rumbling.  Somebody’s getting rain but it isn’t me!

A few high-based rumbles of thunder here over the last half hour. Now raining steadily.

Still no rain since early June. It's got to end over the next 36 hours surely?

Camping on the North York Moors coast at the moment, Robin Hoods Bay. Incredible light show out over the sea to my east this morning. Still rumbling on now. So far these cells have gone to the east or to the west of here.

Just a very sharp short downpour but it has at least wet the ground this time. And the thunder rumbles on all around as the sun comes out here!  I have a feeling it’s going to be like this for a while but as long as we keep getting a bit of rain that soaks in, I’ll be happy.

Series of cells going through here, a lot of lightning with good bass thunder. Only letdown is that it's IC/CC lightning, so sadly missed out on decent photo ops.

From the radar it looks like this cell is exploding a little further North, over Worksop.  That’ll please the brother in law, he’s a greenkeeper at Worksop golf course and the greens need greening up!

That last storm delivered on the CG front, some good proximate strikes with window rattling thunder. Looks like a few more east of Leeds on their way to us as well. Some nice sunshine now, but still the thunder booms away from all sides.

Driving south to west Yorkshire from Edinburgh. After enjoying last night's Edinburgh storm I'm at Scotch Corner looking at turbulent skies. Medium level cloud is boiling away with numerous turrets and rolling thunder. About to head south now into inky black sky 😲

Dry here, showers are missing here, although some loud rumbles of thunder as a shower hits most of Leeds.  I wish they would just clear so we can get some high temperatures.

Things calming down here now, just the odd rumble every 30 seconds or so. Hopefully clearing from the south soon, I miss the sun after 3 hours of storms.
