Just had an email from TheBusinessDesk (Yorkshire) to tell me there's major rail disruption due to lightning strikes.

Blimey. Still sunny here for the time being

Plenty of thunder heard here in Portsmouth but only distant. Some rain but again light warm stuff that evaporates almost instantly upon hitting pavement.

its stopped after a few blobs. I'm not sure if that counts as a drought breaker! probably more later though

Looks like a very nasty storm ongoing in North Norfolk.  I can actually see the edge of it clearly from here, around 50 miles away or more.

That storm over Norfolk looks terrific (from a weather point of view) big flat pancake top to it now establishing itself. Some real potential of a supercell there this evening, with another pulse of seed storms making their way to that area

Stay safe if youre about that area... im epxecting to see some extreme falls of rain tonight....

Hugely variable amounts of rain across the Aberdeen area last night with 4.2mm here, 10mm at Dyce, 1.8mm at Nigg and 2.2mm at Westhill.

1mm here so far today. It's just plain miserable with moderate rainfall and rumbles of thunder. Heaviest rain looks as though it passed to the east.
