Blue skies coming up from the west, so only a brief shower. More to come though, by the looks of the radar.
The storm seems to have passed over, just moderately heavy rain now.

Unseasonably cold uppers are fueling line convection across the south - watch out for embedded segments as decent shear could prompt some short lived rotation in the deepest cores.

Had a wonderfully small but pokey storm over Reigate last evening. Just at sunset so the skies were spectacular.

It started with one close flash of forked lightning and then a couple of mins of nothing. However after this it was fork after fork albeit somewhat to the East. Following this a lot of anvil crawlers that seemed to start linking up with something to the North (Redhill/Reigate). Total lightning count was close to 60-70 strikes but the Met Office lighting map just ended up with 2-3 orange crosses for that period of time.
Yes, it was at sunset and was incredible.
Incredibly heavy downpour has just pushed through here with a peak rain rate at 13:57hrs of 120.0mm/hr.

Plenty of developing heavies around us a.t.m. but , seeing as I've fetched the washing in now, will probably all miss us/fade!

A few rumbles here from a cell that trundled by to the north a short while ago. Great skyscapes today and surprised that this thread was on page three! Tho' it has been a very lean year for thunder so far for many. This will be just the 4th here so far for 2018.
Edit: 16.22 Recent pea-sized hail and more rumbles from a shower that moved overhead - closest rumble from around half a mile away - this activity not showing on the radar but the infallible AM radio picked up the static discharge, so I could count the seconds!
According to the radar looks like a more organised bad of rain is approaching from the west which might even affect our area (Dorset) having missed everything so far today.
