A bit better this morning, although it could be better still.

There is still a lot of cloud around, but there are also some gaps in that cloud with the Sun getting through at times.

So far, this has only resulted in 48 minutes of sunshine being recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning. However, that is better than what we had at this time yesterday and already matches yesterday's final total for the entire day.

Furthermore, there is much more extensive blue sky to my south and the cloud appears to be gradually breaking up over time as the morning wears on, which should then allow even more in the way of sunshine to be seen over time.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 9.2ºC at Swanston in the south of Edinburgh, 11.0ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 12ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 11.7ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 12.1ºC at Swanston, 13.7ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 13ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 13.6ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Crystal clear blue skies. Early cloud here all gone by 8am - sun strong yet again and temps climbing into the low 20s after a beautiful fresh start.

Perfect summers day. Moderate breeze, feels much fresher and more pleasant today. Overnight low 11.5 degrees, and patchy cloud until 10:00 which has limited the temperature rise rate. Currently 21.1 degrees (some 2.5 degrees less than this time yesterday). Just gorgeous.

The Sun has broken through quite nicely now with 4.8 hours of sunshine having been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon. However, there is still quite a chilly easterly wind blowing which is still going to limit the temperatures to a certain degree in this part of the world despite the sunshine.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was 17.3ÂșC at Swanston in the south of Edinburgh, 17.4ÂșC at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 16ÂșC at Edinburgh Airport but only a rather disappointing 14.9ÂșC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
