A sunny afternoon was resulted in 9.8 hours of sunshine being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

However, that bracing easterly wind means that despite this sunshine and unlike in other parts of the UK, the temperatures have once again refused to rise to any sort of decent levels in this part of the world. It has been a bit warmer further inland but even with that, today's maximum temperatures have still fallen a little bit short of the 21ºC which Jerry had predicted earlier on for his part of Edinburgh.

Today's maximum temperature was 20.2ºC at Swanston in the south of Edinburgh, 18.9ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 17ºC at Edinburgh Airport and just a rather disappointing 16.7ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh where I had hoped that it might have at least got up to around 18ºC in the very strong June sunshine.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 5pm this afternoon was 19.7ºC at Swanston, 17.7ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 16ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 15.7ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

We have now just come to the end of an event which has become very rare in this part of the world in recent times, and which is known as a sunnier than average summer month.

Furthermore, this month has even ended on a sunny note with 14.3 hours of sunshine having been recorded for today in the end at Edinburgh Gogarbank. That in turn makes today, the fourth sunniest day of the year so far.

The one downside though is that we still have that nagging easterly wind and I just wish that it would just f@5k off and go away!!

Meanwhile, the temperature at 10pm tonight was 16.2ºC at Swanston in the south of Edinburgh, 13.5ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 13ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 14.0ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
