This morning has once again, started off on the same manner in which it normally always starts off these days with no rain (it's been so long ago since we last had any rain first thing in the morning that I've forgotten how long ago that was, and what that is actually like), quite a lot of cloud and only the odd sunny interval although a total of 6 minutes of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 7am this morning.

However, last night's rainfall resulted in a total of just 0.8 mm of rain being recorded at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 1.0 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh and that should tell you everything about just how boring this location is on average when it comes to our weather (or rather, the lack of any actual weather in this case).

Last night was slightly milder than of late with an overnight minimum temperature of 8.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 10.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 7am this morning was around 11°C here in Edinburgh.

There has been some sunshine around at times during today, but most of that that has occurred during this afternoon with this afternoon generally descending into one of our typical summer borefests with constant grey skies, and with nothing happening which is even remotely interesting in terms of our actual weather.

The result of this is that the very disappointing total of just 1.5 hours of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 4pm this afternoon.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 4pm this afternoon here in Edinburgh was at what has now become our normal daytime value these days, of around 14°C.

Just the odd chinks of brightness trying ever so hard to cut through the convective infill gunk. The cloud cover is just thick enough to produce an hour of light rain (0.8 mm so far today), not enough to touch the still baked hard topsoil.

13.7 c but doesn't feel that cold due to dead calm winds & 85% humidity.

Its been a rather nice day. Plenty of sunshine although the clouds have filled in a little more this afternoon, but after yesterdays chilly day it has felt much warmer in lighter winds.
