Storm Dennis is starting to make its presence known here in Edinburgh as the wind at Edinburgh Gogarbank was gusting up to 43.5mph from the SSW as at 1pm this afternoon.
Despite the forecasts telling us that the biggest issues from this storm would be caused by rain though, that rain just isn't falling here just now. This is something which seems to happen every single month here where that month for a while will look as though it is going to be an exceptionally wet one and then regardless of what the synoptic situation is actually like afterwards, we then have a real struggle to get any more as has been the case over the last few days.
Today has been the perfect example of that because since 9am this morning, there has only been a measly 0.2 mm of rain at Edinburgh Gogarbank and nothing at all at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
This means that apart from the wind (which is probably also stronger elsewhere in the UK than it is here), our weather continues to be as boring and uninteresting as it normally is here.
To make matter worse as well, that ultimate nightmare scenario of double figures winter temperatures has also returned and so, the temperature at 1pm this afternoon was around 11°C here in Edinburgh.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
