6.5C with wind picking up after a quiet night.
There's been some drizzle but I don't see much rain arriving here until mid-afternoon - but then it's on and off until at least 7am and could easily be 25mm+
We aren't in the main rain warning area that's more over the Pennines.

As expected, the rain shadow forecast all week in the charts didnt materialise, the torrential rain arriving 2 hrs earlier than forecast.

Just completed the parkrun in some of the worst conditions ive ever ran in. Soaked to the bone. Massive puddles everywhere within 15 mins of the rain arriving.... rain has backed off somewhat now though.

Had this been snow, that rain shadow would have no issues being effective.

A little earlier than I expected too. Raining steadily now as well but the wind hasn’t strengthened much although it’s more gusty.

Rather cloudy but have experienced the occasional chinks of brightness and also the odd spits of drizzle (still 0.0 mm of rain so far today).

However, I am already starting to feel the wind at this end of Kent but that's because it's of the stupid southerly type coming straight in from the Strait of Dover so I'm more exposed to it. As a result the 10.6 c (90% h) felt pretty fresh when have just I popped out to get the papers.

Storm Dennis is starting to make its presence known here in Edinburgh as the wind at Edinburgh Gogarbank was gusting up to 43.5mph from the SSW as at 1pm this afternoon.

Despite the forecasts telling us that the biggest issues from this storm would be caused by rain though, that rain just isn't falling here just now. This is something which seems to happen every single month here where that month for a while will look as though it is going to be an exceptionally wet one and then regardless of what the synoptic situation is actually like afterwards, we then have a real struggle to get any more as has been the case over the last few days.

Today has been the perfect example of that because since 9am this morning, there has only been a measly 0.2 mm of rain at Edinburgh Gogarbank and nothing at all at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

This means that apart from the wind (which is probably also stronger elsewhere in the UK than it is here), our weather continues to be as boring and uninteresting as it normally is here.

To make matter worse as well, that ultimate nightmare scenario of double figures winter temperatures has also returned and so, the temperature at 1pm this afternoon was around 11°C here in Edinburgh.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

I wouldn’t complain too much about the lack of rain John, you have had over 100mm more than here this year.
