Italy won't mind Spain having the ball, I would imagine Spain will have to be super patient tonight. I fancy the Italians by the odd goal in 3

Spain fantastic so far tonight, Italy have done OK but have been outclassed. The 2nd goal was superb. Alba looks world class.

A masterclass in modern football from Spain - a lot more incisive and purposeful in their passing and attacking intent. That second goal was a joy to watch. The run from Alba, the awareness and pass from Xavi, the glancing first touch from Alba and a composed finish. Superb.

Let's see what Prandelli can muster at half time. He tinkered against England and they dominated afterwards. Can he do the same against the best team in the world?

It's officially a rout now. Spain have been a different class in this final, well done to them 🙂

Great tournament, rubbish final, and I don't mind the way Spain played either, they were awesome. For a neutral who wants a good, even game it was a big letdown

Spain hadn't got out of 3rd or 4th gear all tournament but they were in 5th tonight and destroyed Italy who were a bit unlucky with injuries. Spain perhaps the greatest team in history.

This Spanish team has achieved a few notable feats in the last four years:

  • First team to win three successive tournaments. Only W Germany, to my knowledge, previously came close to doing this in the 70s (won Euro 72, won World Cup 74, runners-up at Euro 76).

  • The second country to win the Euros three times, equalling the Germans.

  • First team to retain the Euro Championship.

  • First European team to win World Cup when the finals have been held outside Europe.

I've quite enjoyed this tournament to be honest, possibly as a result of having little or no expectation for England.

Still no Spain's biggest fan but they did play well against the 9 1/2 men of Italy, so well done them.

The right (best) team won the tournament. You have to hand it to that Spanish team - they are miles ahead of most other teams in Europe and maybe the world at the moment.
