Nearly 18,300 posts have now been made since the clock struck 12 to welcome the new year. Consequently, that means more posts have been made than in December 2011, with over 6 days still to go in January. By tomorrow morning we will have passed November 2011's total.

Can this month pass December 2010's total of 24,233 posts, the last month that was busier than this one? At the current rate, we'll end up with between 22,500 and 23,000 posts, so probably not. BUT - if a cold spell does come and snow looks imminent, then that could easily change.

Stay tuned for an interesting Posting League update late on 1st February!

We're up to 20,671 posts so far this month now, having added 2,300 posts in 48 hours. If the posting rate continues at this pace (over 1,000 per day) then with just over 4 days left, we should be heading towards a total of 25,000 posts - making it the busiest month on TWO since January 2010, exactly 2 years ago.

That's superb. Would be interesting to hear your thoughts in your monthly rundown why this has happened. Nov and Dec 2010 was a sustained spell of severe cold and snow for some. All we've had so far this month is potential, yet here we are close to the record. Looking forward to it 🙂

By no means is it a record number of posts, in fact compared to 2005-7 the posting rate is still way down. However, I would suggest all the following reasons:

  • Uncertain prognoses lead to more discussion than the comparitively "nailed on" synoptics of late November 2010

  • This much later into the winter, people are more desperate for their fix of snow

  • I'm getting the impression that there is a flow of members from NW to TWO, due to uncontrolled trolling and/or overzealous moderation on the former (I wouldn't know myself)

  • The TWO forums were still suffering from load during winter 2010/11. Brian has resolved this and people are posting freely.

  • Brian.T came back from the wilderness.

That also includes guests who are browsing but haven't logged in (no doubt Codge, Ian Brown/FOT ME, pnepaul and other banned members included).

The posting league and rogues' gallery will be updated tomorrow - had a long day away with work today, so I've only just started putting everything together. I captured the data last night at midnight though.

Posting League

The posting league is calculated each month by comparing a snapshot of users and post totals with one from a month earlier. The total number of posts for each user includes posts from all forums going back to November 2001. All users are automatically included in the survey. A detailed analysis of the month's movers and shakers is also produced.

What effect did the current cold spell have on the Posting League? Who won the medals this month? Find out here!

Rogues' Gallery

A collection of photos of TWO forum members, the more the merrier! Members are shown in descending post total order, again including all posts made since November 2001. Those who haven't posted for at least 6 months are removed. This is also updated once a month. Please submit your photos to me, by using the TWO Private Message system, or alternatively the "Contact Darren" link on my web site.

We have one new, and two updated photos. The gallery count increased 5 to 106, as although one person who hadn't posted for 6 months was removed, 3 people returned after a long break, and haghir22 and Poppy had their photos reinstated after I realised they were still posting under new registrations.

Please, don't be shy - send in your photos!

All Time Top 100

Every month, a list is compiled showing the Top 100 TWO members of all time, including those who were banned or have lapsed. Changes in overall position compared to the previous month are also shown, as are all those climbers in positions 101-300. Post totals include all those made since November 2001.

Posting League Records

Every month, various statistics are updated, such as biggest climb to number 1, most consecutive months in the Top 10, highest new entry, etc.

2011 Summary

This is still available at http://two.dazsmith.co.uk/posting/2011summary.html . Find out who made more posts than anyone else in the year just gone. Who was the highest new entry? The highest climber? Who fell the furthest? You can see the Top 400 posters of the year in an extended version of the table, as well a new section that shows some custom Top 5s.

Another fantastic and detailed update. Thanks Darren.

My lucky number 37 strikes again in the annual chart.  The top posting snowman chart of all time made me laugh, I knew there was a few but not that many.

No stopping Romfordman!!!

I'm going to try and include one "guest" table in the write-up each month now; just to add a bit of interest. You're right, it is surprising there are so many snowmen on TWO!

Indeed, you're right; you made 82 posts in both December 2008 and January 2009, but only reached 109 and 106 respectively. You then slipped to 51 posts in February 2009 and fell to number 138. That was the last time you were outside the Top 100, so you've now done 35 consecutive months.
