Stunning day, blue skies, light winds and 19.7c as the high, nice to take a break from work at 5:30 and get the grass mown again.

As much as a 9 month old cocker likes to destroy it, it's almost resembling something like an actual lawn, which is pretty good going given how wet it was a month ago.

7.6C, clear blue sky.

Yesterday's max was 15.5 but enough power in direct sunlight to warm the house and provide hot water, I've turned the gas off, doing my bit for energy supplies.

A beautiful day yesterday with a high of 19.0°C - easily the warmest day of the year so far.

Today has began in the same fashion, after a low of 8.3°C.

Looks like the Met Office have got today's forecast completely wrong as I see absolutely no signs now of that old weather front which was still expected to be around today.

Last night was rather chilly with a ground frost as the temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank dropped to a minimum of 2.0°C.

With the Sun already out though and with barely a cloud to be seen here, the temperature here in Edinburgh has already jumped up to around 10°C, so a fairly warm day looks like being on the cards here and according to the forecasts, that wasn't supposed to happen until tomorrow.

As I write as well, only another 16.5 hours of sunshine needs to be recorded between now and the end of the month at Edinburgh Gogarbank in order for this month to go down as being sunnier than average here.

We're not much more than halfway through the month but we've already had 85.2% of our 1991-2020 March average sunshine at Edinburgh Gogarbank this month with only the one completely sunless day being recorded.

Last spring was noted as the sunniest spring on record, as part of the year in which the Sun just wouldn't stop shining and in this same month last year, Edinburgh Gogarbank had 124.4% of its 1991-2020 Marach average sunshine. Going by that, this month is anything, is actually shaping up to possibly end up being even sunnier than this same month last year, albeit nowhere near as dry. With that in mind, this year might actually also be shaping up as yet another year now, in which the Sun just won't stop shining and from that, I'm not surprised in any way that the Met Office have got today's forecast for here so badly wrong.

Yes John much sunnier than forecast as the old front has moved down into the Borders and northern England

Feeling chilly though, 12 C maximum and down to 11 C here now in the NE wind

Tomorrow could be our turn for some warmth, 15 C perhaps??

Nevertheless, the temperature has now dropped back to only around 9°C here in Edinburgh with some easterly muck also drifting in from off the North Sea now.

Hopefully though, tomorrow will be warmer even here. If it gets to around 15°C here, that is regarded in my books as T-shirt weather and this is usually the time of year when we would typically expect to start seeing that.

Peaked at 17.2 C at 1.30 pm today with near unbroken sunshine, have sat outside at my west-facing front garden for a couple of hours this afternoon and now my face is quite rosy-looking.

A frosty start earlier that is if a grass/roof frost cuts the chilled mustard. Which for many won't. Calm almost though with Easterly airs with patchy cloud.

Yesterday was a glorious day. Will today be the same?

Last night was chilly once again with a ground frost as the temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank dropped to 1.4°C.

There was also some thick but shallow fog around at around sunrise, but that disappeared very quickly to leave us with a virtually completely sunny day so far with a total of 7.1 hours of sunshine at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 2:40pm GMT (14:40 UTC) this afternoon. That left us needing a total of only at least 0.6 hours of sunshine to be recorded between then and the end of the month in order for this month to go down as being sunnier than average. As it has continued to be completely sunny here since then, that target has probably already been met which means that regardless of what happens between now and the end of this month, this month will now go down as being sunnier than average.

We are only around two-thirds of the way through this month as well which means that as was the case last year, this is already shaping up to be yet another exceptionally sunny spring here (although this month has been nowhere near as dry as the same month last year).

In addition to that, I can also report that today is also our warmest day of the year so far with a temperature of around 17°C here in Edinburgh, and even up to around 18°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which is even warmer than what Jerry was hoping for yesterday, and warmer than what was actually forecast for today.

For the third day in a row, last night was chilly with yet another ground frost as the temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank dropped to a minimum of 1.9°C.

There is a little bit of high to medium-level cloud around this morning but apart from that, we once again have the same old sunshine once again to start the day which now appears to be the norm for this time of the year in particular.

That is great in terms of us having some decent weather to enjoy which is very welcome on this occasion after the very dull end to the winter which we experienced. In terms of actual interesting weather though (there is after all, a difference between the sort of weather which we want to see, and the type of weather which would be regarded as being interesting, and this emphasises that really well), this is all rather boring once again and from that perspective, it should come as no surprise that even the MO thread on here has been very quiet just lately.

Anyway, the temperature here in Edinburgh is around 4°C as I write, but will probably warm up quite a lot during the course of the day as it usually always does.

The last 3 mornings have started out as 0.8c, 0.4c and 0.5c this morning so still just the one air frost this month.

Another lovely morning, a bit more haziness and contrails in the sky but still full sun.

Out for a run at 8am when it was 3c, now up to 10c so warming up nicely.
