Crisp, calm and clear, albeit it won't stay that way for long - there's a massive veil of cloud lurking to the west on the radar.

9.2, dew 8.0, which is the overnight low so far.

Yesterday's high was just 17.8, noticeably colder than of late.

8.7C, the first single figure value of the autumn.

Sunny, earlier with wisps of high cloud moving rapidly from the west but now filling in.

Last night was rather chilly with an overnight minimum temperature of 6.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank. That isn't cold enough for a ground frost here but the temperature is still dropping as I write, so the actual minimum temperature could still end up being lower than what I have reported here.

However, today has started off on a bright and sunny note yet again within this year in which the Sun just will not stop shining here. So far this month, Edinburgh Gogarbank has now had 49.0% of its 1991-2020 September average sunshine but we're still not even half way through the month yet, so this month is once again on course to possibly end up being sunnier than average yet again. What is even more noticeable though is that during this year so far, Edinburgh Gogarbank has already had 92.9% of its 1991-2020 annual average sunshine with a quarter of the year still to go after this month.

That said though, there is some very high cloud beginning to appear to my south and west.

Currently around 6°C here in Edinburgh

It's now raining here in Edinburgh. The rain took a bit longer to reach here than was forecast, but this rain is now quite heavy so hopefully (in terms of the water scarcity situation which is still ongoing here), we might actually get a fairly decent rainfall total out of that which the farmers and growers will at least be a bit happier with.

Currently around 12°C here in Edinburgh with a rather cool feel but the temperature did get up to slightly above 15°C just a few hours ago, so the wait for our first sub-15°C maximum of this autumn goes on.

However, it is now very gloomy here and so, the house lights will now need to switched on early this evening just to further add to that autumnal feel.

Today was the coldest day since March 25th and no sun except early in the morning,  12C outside and conservatory first time drop to 20.8C since 25th march at 17.6C as it been a long hot summer indoors.  Tomorrow expect back to high 20's and outside high teen to 20C later this week.

I wonder if anyone put the heating on?  Me no house no need as it still have some warmth from yesterday mostly sunny day.

It's currently gloomy, humid, breezy and drizzly, 16.9, dew 15.8. The high so far is only 17.5, colder than yesterday's 17.8, but I wouldn't be surprised if it gets warmer for a time overnight.

There's been 1mm of rain today.

The earlier rain had cleared away for a while this evening, but has now returned with a vengeance and it is now absolutely chucking it down as I write.

Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 15.3°C.

With all of the cloud and rain which is now around though, the temperatures are now refusing to drop and so the temperature here in Edinburgh is still around 13°C

14.1C. Windy, with patches of cloud moving from the west, but not the dramatic storm promised (and still promised)

EDIT - the Brighton -Eastbourne area has had the strong winds because there are several reports of trees blown down there.

14.1 here too. Light recent shower with fresh to strong winds. The swimming part of the Ironman in Weymouth yesterday was cancelled because of the forecast of  life endangering weather. In the end the swimming could have gone ahead because it was near enough flat calm at the start.

14.6 here (dew 11.6), mostly clear and breezy. I'm not looking forward to the forecast 50+mph gusts later, I expect my neighbour's fence panels will go a-wandering again. (And now I've got a giant puppy it'll fall to me to pay for replacements - annoying).

The overnight low was 14.3, much milder than of late.

I see that nowhere in the UK officially reached 20C yesterday. Must be the first time since early June but I don't have a specific date. Anybody know if this is easy to source?

Since you mentioned it must be early June that does not take too  long and shows that 08 June had a max of 19.6C at Heathrow

Nearly blew over on my way up to lock the church at 4pm. Very gusty. I expect some tree damage. It started raining at 4.20pm, just as I got home.

Update at 5.10pm - rain stopped at 4.45pm and it became bright and sunny, but still with powerful gusts of wind. Trees still thrashing abut in the wind.
