The heat is back , from Monday looks like at least 3 days above 30c. Tuesday could be pushing mid 30s. UKV has 35c , Arpege 33c. Longevity not sure but both ECM and AIFS want to prolong the heat this morning.

We've had 12 30c + days this year so far, the last being 18th July. Very respectable.

How many do we need for this Summer to be an all time classic?? 18? 20?

We have had just one day over 25°C here. It has been a good summer overall with lots of warm and useable weather but nothing really hot here.

I am not sure this current heatwave at least for the south  will last that long ?

I'm getting quite cross about this 4th heatwave business! Some of us haven't had one! Be more specific! 4th heatwave in ENGLAND please!!

Only a 3 day affair as well.

The Met Office daily max 5km Grid data for 1995 shows 29

There may have been a couple of late entries to bump up the daily extremes but 29 looks like the highest it is likely to be

Heatwave had been cut short and delayed as it started sunny last Thursday then cut off with clouds issues until today was worst and overcast so very poor and extremely wrong forecast. Poor plebs who gone to SW got hit with rain over the fake HP cell.

The exceptionally hot upper air has arrived here... even with no wind, and following a day which "only" reached 24.5, it's been hovering between 18.6 and 19 for most of the night. There was a brief puff of wind a couple of hours ago and it jumped up to 20!

I'm hoping the wind continues to blow from the sea later today, but there's a small chance it won't, in which case it's going to be insufferable. Further west the humidity will be lower, which won't make it feel as bad (but which will help dessicate things more)...

Interestingly the BBC also quote the 34-  30c days in 1995 at the end of this article. So maybe some accuracy to it.

Last night's cloud and rain were more extensive than modelled. I suspect they may peg back temperatures a little today, but we shall see, with tomorrow perhaps being the peak.
