Lots of cloud today. Writtle in Essex currently 27c is the highest,  but could be touch and go if we hit 30c

I’m surprised how relatively low the readings have been today. I’m at a summer fete and it’s roasting. Clear blue sky, just a few puffs of cumulus. Feels much hotter than the 26.6C  Farnborough 2pm reading. 

Looking at the satellite view the cloud is melting away further north from me too. 

The early cloud has more or less gone in the past hour and the temp is a humid 28C under calm conditions. 

Flying ant day too as I've just got back and there are several in cobwebs and still on the wing.

Yes currently 28c here but feels hotter. A few 29s can we squeeze a 30c.

I think the peak will be quite late in the day today as the 850s are rising and cloud clearing. 

29.2C at Iver seems to be the highest 3pm reading. The 32 from HARMONIE seems a bit over the top though. 

A max of 27C today. Tomorrow's forecast high is 31C but could be a little higher according to UKV (recent runs have shown 32/33C here).

Latest Met Office forecast on Twitter has 34 tomorrow and 35 Tuesday. 

Edit: looks like 31.1C at St James’s Park was the max. 

Interestingly that's bang on what the UKMet had for today in that area of London. 

Tomorrow it's got 35c so perhaps the record might just be under threat still.

They seem to have called it as 31.0 yesterday even though the 1800Z SYNOP had 31.1. 

The models have definitely dialled back the heat by a degree or two for today and tomorrow. Looks like 33C max today and 34 tomorrow is about as high as we will get, with 850mb temperatures a couple degrees lower than was looking likely a cooler of days ago (17-18 rather than 20).

Could be a high temp for Scotland today, Kinloss 24c at 0900 or maybe the Haar will roll in .

Models seem to have Scotland peaking early and cooling down this afternoon. 25C the modelled max.

The extent of intrusion by the very hot airmass over the mainland of Europe has been subtly toned down over the past couple of days, such that reaching the mid-30s °C is more dependent on surface heating.

Interestingly UKV now has such values being reached in parts of central England today, while London sees a relatively modest 32°C.

Tomorrow, the heat becomes concentrated over south-eastern England and that looks to be when London is more likely to record 34-35°C. Still some uncertainty over how quickly Atlantic air advances from the west. Here in NE Dorset predicted max temps range from 26°C to 30°C depending on that.

Overall, considering that airmass-wise this is a close call rather than direct hit from the very hot airmass, to still be talking of the mid-30s °C seems noteworthy.

Charlwood already at 30.8C at 1120Z if Weatherobs is correct.

My VP2 which overreports by about 1C in this pattern is currently showing 31.5C

32c here in Watford, feeling very hot.

My basic north facing wall thermometer reads 28.9C. It's not uncomfortable outside, i.e. not humid and feels pleasant under the sunshade)  but I guess I can squeeze another hour in the office before it becomes unbearable.

A trio of 32.5s on the 3pm updates: Wisley, St James's Park and Charlwood.

29.4 feels hideously uncomfortable here, yet I recall plenty of 32s that felt better, so I think it must be pretty humid here, with 850s about 17 and thickness above 570.

I haven't seen any official 33s yet today, let alone 34 or 35. Highest hourly reading has been a 32.9C at Northolt I think.

Temperature was downgraded yesterday for today down here, and again for tomorrow its been downgraded. 

Scraped 27C today despite 30C being on the cards two days ago. Tomorrow's 31C is downgraded now to 29C.

My high is 33.7c at 5.35pm

My VP 2 reached 33.3C.
