A truly hot day and widespread. 28 - 30C from Aboyne in Scotland down to the south coast. Newcastle 30 C! Edinburgh has probably had it's hottest June day on record

5  degrees cooler today with max just 26.7C. Sunshine more hazy and a brisk easterly breeze helping. The same breeze that dropped temperatures to a tolerable 15.4C last night. Seems warmer this evening. Looks hotter again tomorrow.

As I write, the temperature has now finally dropped back slightly but only to around 27°C here in Edinburgh.

Cloudy for most of the day here, albeit still warm around the 26c mark most of the midday period. Sun came out about 2pm and our max was 28.8c, currently a lovely clear evening and 22.9c

As we have now just entered into the shortest night of the year, the temperatures have now dropped by quite a bit under those clear skies which should give us the most spectacular view of the entire year of the lingering all night twilight which is seen at this time of the year, but it is still very warm and humid with the temperature still at around 20°C here in Edinburgh. 

Much the same as usual - clear, calm, relatively warm. 13.5, dew 11.7, which is the overnight low so far. Yesterday's high was 24.9.

It's hard to imagine it being nearly 20C warmer through this afternoon and evening... can't say I'm looking forward to it at all!

You did slightly better than me. 15.3c the overnight low here (and which it still is now). 

19.8C here and almost calm, largely sunny with some not quite acc above.

It bottomed out at 13.1 in the end, around 5 minutes ago, and now is on the rise... up to 13.3, no, 13.4 as I'm writing this! 

Misty this morning with the ground being slightly damp from a light passing shower. Overnight low was 14.6c it’s now 16c.

The downward spiral towards next winter clearly starts here but as this marks the start of astronomical summer, this also means that it's now summer regardless of how you actually define that.

Anyway, after yesterday's hottest June day on record here in Edinburgh, today has started off on a rather dull note with thick fog.

My worst weather of all, the Edinburgh 'haar' I hate it. I was expecting another sunny start to have a summer breakfast in the garden, instead I get November! Fog drifting in on a light easterley....porridge anyone?

Funny you should mention porridge. I had my breakfast of porridge with pumpkin seeds in the garden under light easterlies but warm and sunny @21.5C. Sorry CR.

I'd gladly take "haar" over the utter dross we're going to get down here today... at least you don't sweat your balls off, while listening to other people making a racket when it's foggy!

Incidentally today shows the benefits of having a decent-sized garden, with a lawn and plenty of trees and shrubs. My station is reporting 16.4, in direct sunlight, while the chap over the road - with a small garden with lots of concrete/decking - is reporting 23! Most of the other stations on Sheppey are reporting similar values to his.

Very small backgarden here as well. I attempted to offset this ultra-microclimate effect by placing the DV2 on a 12 ft high pole. Works well enough during the day and compares well with an official met station a couple of miles away (my max yesterday: 28.8c vs official 28.5c) but comes at a cost during winter nights. The govee thermo I have in a sheild at the standard 1.5m height in back garden will cool quicker on a winter evening with minima as much as 1 to 1.5c lower than the 12ft high monster.

According to yesterday's forecasts, today was supposed to be another hot day here in Edinburgh, albeit with an increased risk of showers or thunderstorms later on.

According to those forecasts, today would probably not end up being quite as hot as yesterday (it would take some doing after all, to beat our hottest June day on record) but even with that, some forecasts were going for 27°C for here today.

I somehow can't see that happening though. The temperatures are already refusing to rise here and I can see it ending up not even being the least bit warm here for this time of the year.

Conditions have turned murky with sporadic bursts of rain and distant thunder. 16.7c at the moment.

Similar here too. I hope it clears soon. Currently 13.6°C and murky.
