Today hasn't been as warm as yesterday here in Edinburgh due to a cooler breeze from off the North Sea but today is still another virtually completely sunny day.

Yesterday was our sunniest day of this year so far with a total of 11.6 hours of sunshine at Edinburgh Gogarbank and there is a good chance of that being beaten today as well.

Believe it or not, today actually started off on a chilly note with an overnight minimum temperature of just 1.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and even a ground frost, but it's now currently around 15°C here in Edinburgh as I write.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

The rain in the Channel is tantalisingly close and although the temp is only 17C with complete cloud cover it feels notably warmer (pleasant) than with the same temp yesterday under sunshine.

Yesterday was once again our sunniest day of this year so far with a total of 12.3 hours of sunshine at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

However, there was never going to be any chance of that being repeated today given the overcast start to the day and so despite an almost completely sunny afternoon, a total of only 4.9 hours of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 5:40pm BST (16:40 UTC) this afternoon.

I did report a temperature of around 12°C here in Edinburgh earlier on but that was only due to the temperature very briefly reaching 11.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank at around that time.

In actual fact, the highest hourly temperature reading at Edinburgh Gogarbank for today is only 10.6°C and it actually feels rather chilly now in that brisk wind from off the North Sea.

11.4C. Cloudy with spits of rain from the fizzling disturbance and calm for a change.

The recent rain which arrived yesterday most welcome. More than forecast too.

I had almost forgotten what slugs and snails were. They have been in aestivation  this spring so far.

Anybody on holiday in the north west Highlands is enjoying an amazing week for early April. Achnagart was sunny with a high of 20.4C yesterday.

Summer-like 18 C already before 10 am with sunshine (albeit hazy) but the 60% H & light NE breeze are what keeping the freshness going anyway.

Update: Just nudged 20 C at 12.45 pm. Even the freshening NE breeze isn't hampering the warmth, already seeing the obligatory bare chested youths with their pitbulls and boxes of Stellas while on way to the nearby beach. 😅

A dull and overcast day here in Edinburgh with virtually no hints of even any brightness and with a brisk wind from off the North Sea which is making it feel rather cold here.

Currently around 8°C here in Edinburgh and not even the least bit warm here any more with the temperatures also refusing to rise.😡
