could we possibly then refer to that as a double ice day?

OK I'll get my coat, and a very warm one at that!
Assume it'll drop off again at some point, would be odd to have the lowest min in the evening, usually happens around 5-7am unless there's a change in airmass or the wind picks up.

Went down to -5.7C last night but nothing out of usual and more like average standard mid winter frosty temps. Conservatory was -2.6C and was shocked to see ice crystals on the outside glass formed on my 2nd bedroom new window facing south which sit above the conservatory roof. I was surprised why ice crystals was formed on uPVC windows? not had that since the old days when the temps go down to -10C or below it iced inside. Same thing appeared on the bathroom new window next to Bed 2 but not the window on the side for the toliet room have none as it facing the neighouring house as I live end of terrace property.

Shap at minus 11 the local cold spot, atm, cloud cover at Eskdalemuir keeping the temperatures at freezing.

There's been a similar lack of falling temperatures here, it's been hovering around -2.5 all night, again no wind and no cloud. It always intrigues me as to why temperatures level off like that, after all there's no incoming radiation to warm things up! I'd have expected a gradual fall all night long, but that seldom happens.
Lowest I can see on Wundermap is -19C near Kinbrace brrrr 🥶🥶

Edit: in fact the 9am update shows it reached -18.9C some time after 6am.
Private weather stations local to me are around -8C this morning.

My own monthly mean so far is a bit higher, as I live in the city, but is still a chilly 0.2°C at time of writing.
Further north Tulloch Bridge’s (West Highlands) January mean is -2.9°C (5.7°C below average).
These will all change considerably in the coming days but it has been a notably cold start to the year.
Current conditions (personal WS)
The official minimum last night was -18.9°C again in Altnaharra.
