I've been picking apples all day at West Dean, in shirtsleeves and (mostly) sunshine. Something black and threatening passed by to the north at abou 110 with a distant rumble of thunder. A few heavy drops of rain leaving dusty spots on windscreens but the sun came out again after 5 minutes.

More thunder yesterday and again this morning. That’s our 6th day of thunderstorm activity in the last 3 weeks. Would be a dream for anyone that finds them interesting. I don’t. Noisy rain.

The SE gets removed from the warning area and the next batch heads straight into that area…

Also looks like we have some stuff firing up in the SE again now. I think they can be a bit too 'fussy' with the boundaries.

The Gloucester area seemed to be particularly hard hit by storms and torrential rain yesterday by some reports I've read and family who live there storms lasting 3 hours or more

On the M5 mid afternoon around Worcester and the world went dark and then continual torrents of rain, lightning every 20 seconds and hail tha I genuinely thought was going to damage the car.
Thankfully everyone drove sensibly and after about 45 minutes it cleared, and the hotel in Filton, near Bristol said they'd had very little.
