I've been picking apples all day at West Dean, in shirtsleeves and (mostly) sunshine. Something black and threatening passed by to the north at abou 110 with a distant rumble of thunder. A few heavy drops of rain leaving dusty spots on windscreens but the sun came out again after 5 minutes.

That storm has just driven me off the beach. Too risky waving a wand on the strand. Decent light show though.

The SE gets removed from the warning area and the next batch heads straight into that area…

More thunder yesterday and again this morning. That’s our 6th day of thunderstorm activity in the last 3 weeks. Would be a dream for anyone that finds them interesting. I don’t. Noisy rain.

The Gloucester area seemed to be particularly hard hit by storms and torrential rain yesterday by some reports I've read and family who live there storms lasting 3 hours or more

Was woken in the night by more brilliant flashes of lightning. No rain and only distant thunder this time. More storms this month than in the previous two summers combined now I think

Some of the nastiest storm activity occurred just outside the warning area yesterday in East/West Sussex and East Surrey. And then today the SE was added back in to the warning area in the early hours as storms headed in and then removed this morning at 07:04 just as some activity was getting going. Also looks like we have some stuff firing up in the SE again now. I think they can be a bit too 'fussy' with the boundaries.

Whilst having a coffee in the garden I could hear very distant thunder, possibly from Peterborough way, but not convinced it will make it here, as it seems o staying to the west of my location, however I'm keeping an eye out as the washing is almost dry!

Thankfully everyone drove sensibly and after about 45 minutes it cleared, and the hotel in Filton, near Bristol said they'd had very little.

We've had the thunder and lightning and now it's heavy rain, pretty much on the doorstep today, plenty of noise but didn't see the flashes too busy finishing with work, oops spoke to soon there was a nice bright one overhead, as I type 😁
