No rain here overnight as far as I can tell but there was a line of Ac castellanus cloud when I opened the curtains which indicates some instability. Seems to be vanishing rapidly though and the sun is beating down.

Wasn’t uncomfortably warm overnight, in fact I woke up and needed to pull the duvet back over me!

Zipping past 25C here, despite the odd bits of cloud - the dewpoint is approaching 21C too, so it feels oppressive already. 25 is the point

which I class the day as being warm - it's 2C above the 91-20 average, and 3.5C above the old 61-90 average.

My weather station is online here, and will provide a good record of today's heat.

A couple of 27s at 10am. We've got time but it's going to have to rocket and stay clear to hit 35c.

The cloud that was here earlier has disappeared, it's now moderately breezy and the temperature is up to 25c. So glad I took an early start on the day. I think aa 2 hour lunch break will be in order 😉 getting ready for Southern France at the end of this month 😁

Darren, 25c is the point at which I class a day as hot! Warm is 18c and above as far as I'm concerned. 🤣

Annoyingly still bands of showers moving through, so just 17.8c now.  Heard a bit of thunder a few mins ago.

The cloud's buggered off now (aww...) and it's heating up rapidly again. My experience is that brief bits of cloud don't really depress the max that much, all that happens is temperatures rise faster than they would have done as things "catch up" to where they would have been. Or, put it another way, with 20C+ at 850, any bit of sun is going to have a kick to it.

26.5, dew 21.5. Yet again that's a remarkable dew point for the UK, yet it'll go without much comment locally!

Slow progress today. We really need to see 30C by 12 to have any chance of reaching 35C

But here in Hants it has suddenly gone to full overcast from full sunshine half an hour ago, which will keep a lid on temperatures.

I reckon the hottest day of the year is nailed on now, but maybe only 33.

The wind's completely died off now, so there's nothing tempering the rise...

30.7, dew 23.4!!

As is typical during these very hot, very rapid rise days, it's now cooler indoors, even upstairs, than outside.
