Meanwhile here in Edinburgh, we've just had a shower of rain and there's a lot more cloud around.

Earlier forecasts by the Met Office had suggested that we would be very unlucky to get a shower today and what rain we've had from that hasn't amounted to much but these showers are turning out to be more widespread than what was forecast, so it looks as though we might have just been hit by that St. Swithin's Day curse after all.

However, today is our warmest day of this month so far regardless of what happens during the rest of the day, with only our first 70+°F maximum of this month as the temperature reached around 21°C here in Edinburgh just a few hours ago.

Since then, the temperature has dropped back slightly to around 19°C here in Edinburgh.

However, very heavy rain is now falling here in Edinburgh with some very bright echoes showing up on the latest radar maps just to my south.

Currently around 18°C here in Edinburgh.

Up to 24mm now, which looks to be it for the day...maybe

SEPA map looks like a rainbow around Edinburgh - red at bush (23mm, 14mm in an hour), orange at torphin, yellow at comiston, green at murrayburn, blue at gogarbank (0.6mm)

Gogarbank is now up to 1 mm on that list, so I can at least report an official rain day here as that is where my data usually comes from which I report on this forum.

One station which you didn't mention though is the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. That is shown by the other blue dot in the north of Edinburgh and is the closest station to where I live. However, the SEPA data only shows 0.6 mm of rain there, which is even less than at Gogarbank.

According to weatherobs.com though which uses the raw BUFR/SYNOP data that is used in the official Met Office data, a total of 1.6 mm of rain has been recorded at the botanic gardens during today along with 2.4 mm at Gogarbank, and this shows that SEPA is clearly under-reporting the totals for those two stations once again.

And 15 minutes later, the showers have arrived.

Escaped the heaviest rain overnight despite the warning. Just 4.3mm

15.8, dew 14.8 (94% RH), with an overnight low of 14.6. Yesterday's high was 23.8 (in the evening) and there was 7.6mm of rain last night - 5mm of which fell in just 5 minutes (peak 128mm/hour rate). 

You wouldn't know we'd had that much rain this morning, though - there are few puddles at the edge of the main road, but it's mostly dry.

Well, I did warn you not to bring that cloud and drizzle back with you, so I know who to blame for that.🤣🤣🤣
