High pressure is dominating over Scandinavia bringing not especially cold Spring easterlies. The coming week will have a mix of weather with drier and wetter, as well as cooler and milder spells alternating. A classic Spring mix!

Saturday morning has had a lot of dry and bright weather but we have got a band of rain through northern England and more rain into southwestern England. In between many places are dry with bright or sunny spells.

Through the rest of the day outbreaks of rain will become patchy across northern England and Northern Ireland but heavy showers and longer spells of rain will develop through Wales, southern and southwestern England. Many central and eastern parts of England as well as much of Scotland will stay dry with bright or sunny spells. Temperatures will show a north/south split. Cold in the north at 3C to 6C but mild in the south at 9C to 12C.

Overnight, areas of heavy, showery rain will push northwards across England and Wales with some quite heavy rain in places. Scotland and Northern Ireland will be drier but some wintry showers are possible for eastern Scotland. Temperatures ranging from 0C to 9C north to south.

Showery outbreaks of rain lasting for most of the day with some sleet or snow possible across central and eastern Scotland. There will be drier intervals too, with a tendency for the rain to gradually die out from the east as the day wears on. Temperatures will be quite cold at 3C to 10C and it will feel colder in the fresh easterly wind.

Low pressure will be clearing away on Monday so we should find showery rain slowly dying out but we'll keep a lot of cloud going across the country with light rain or drizzle through eastern regions. Another cold day at 3C to 9C.

Tuesday brings us a ridge of high pressure so most places should have a dry day with more in the way or bright or sunny spells though some rain is possible for western Scotland and Northern Ireland. Temperatures look cold for the north and east at 4C to 8C but milder in the south and west at 9C to 12C.

Wednesday finds low pressure returning from the west with outbreaks of rain pushing into northern and western regions while the south and east stays dry and bright. With winds turning into the south west temperatures will be milder at 6C to 13C.

Thursday and Friday will be turning increasingly unsettled with showery rain spreading eastwards on Thursday and heavy, persistent rain possible on Friday. Despite the rain at least it will be mild with temperatures of 8C to 15C by Friday.

Next weekend looks set to keep the unsettled weather going with low pressure bringing more rain at times. Temperatures probably starting to become cooler again, too.

Summary: Unsettled with rain at times but also drier intervals. Quite cool to start but milder later in the week.
