Conclusion:

The spring of 2023 was a season which took a long time to get going, and it got off to a cold start with even some snow during March. The spring of 2023 also brought us an above average number of air frosts overall, but these all occurred during March and April.

Overall though, the temperatures during the spring came out at around average although we had a longer than usual wait for our first temperature of the year of 20°C or higher.

The spring of 2023 got off to a fairly wet start as spell, but March ended up being the only wetter than average month during the spring and it got drier over time afterwards with May being an exceptionally dry month.

In the end, the spring of 2023 was drier than average overall.

It is likely that the spring pattern was set by the sudden stratospheric warming event which took place at the end of the winter and because of that, it was a spring which was dominated by northern blocking and easterly winds.

This resulted in the spring being duller than average overall with all three spring months being duller than average.

Overall, I will mark it 3/10.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
